Meet Ant AbsoLUTE

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ant AbsoLUTE.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
At the age of 8 years old, I discovered my love and passion for music. I have early memories of being outside on recess in middle school when I would rhyme words together and beatbox with my friends. Shortly after that, I started writing my rhymes in a composition notebook. I used to write whenever ideas came to my head and that’s still a part of my creating process to this day. Sometimes I would even read my rhymes to girls at school just to impress them. In high school, I learned how to make beats and some of my teachers knew that I wanted to pursue music professionally. During my senior year, my teachers challenged me to create a motivational song about leadership. After that moment I gained more confidence in myself and developed my sound and style. I attended the Ohio Media School, and I majored in Music Management at Hocking College. Over the years I have performed at local shows in my city, participated in producer battles, attended music events, and I’m always consistently studying my craft. Currently, I’m rebranding myself and putting out more music on all of the streaming platforms.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has not always been easy. My parents were not equipped to fund my dream, so I had to create makeshift instruments. I would either use pots and pans to make beats or I would just beat on my chest. When I started recording, I used my little sister’s karaoke machine. We didn’t have much knowledge about the music industry, so my mom didn’t know how to get me discovered. My mom also had multiple jobs at a time so that she could provide a stable home for me and my sisters.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a Hip Hop artist/music producer. I’m proud of my growth as an artist, and how I’m able to structure my songs creatively. I try to make songs that are relatable so that when people listen, they can gain something from them. My sound and the tone of my voice are what sets me apart from everyone else. I love making songs that have concepts to them, where you can close your eyes and imagine what I am saying. I’m a father of 4 and a husband. I also get joy when I see my wife and kids dancing and singing my songs. Some people feel it’s hard to have a music career when you have a family, but all it takes is faith, balance, and support.

What would you say has been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson that I’ve learned through my journey is that you only fail when you give up. I had a show where I invited 50 people and only 10 people showed up. I finished my performance in disbelief. Most of the people who showed up I didn’t know. I didn’t beat myself up and that night added more fuel to my passion. Another lesson that I learned is to stay consistent. You lose momentum when you’re not consistent.
