Today we’d like to introduce you to Annabelle Himes.
Hi Annabelle, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Heroes and Tiaras began when I was 16 years old. I was a junior at Western Reserve Local Schools in Berlin Center, Ohio. I started the business to make some extra money in high school, never imagining it would turn into my full-time job. I was also working at White House Fruit Farm in Canfield at the time. Now, I am a junior at Youngstown State University, where I am studying Human Resource Management. I am involved in several organizations on campus and also sing in a band called “Guys Without Ties.”
From 2018-2021 I ran Heroes and Tiaras out of my home in Canfield. The business grew so much that in 2021, I opened a studio in the center of Canfield where my office is located and the costumes are stored. I started with one costume and now have over 100, so the studio space was much needed. Additionally, I have grew from just myself attending parties and events to 15 performers. In summer 2022, I expanded the studio where we now host our own events, and families can rent out the space to host their own birthday parties.
We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The community has been extremely supportive of my small business. Last year, we attend 425+ birthday parties.
While my business started taking off, Covid-19 began. Several events were cancelled, and we could not attend birthdays and events during this time. However, we started doing video chats and social distanced “yard visits” until we could return to normal.

Heroes and Tiaras is a character entertainment business founded in 2018 by Annabelle Himes. Located in the heart of Canfield, Ohio, Heroes, and Tiaras is dedicated to bringing your favorite characters to life.
Our mission is to provide high-quality performers, costumes, and memories at an affordable price.
We offer over 100+ different characters, including princesses, superheroes, princes, pirates villains, swimming mermaids, holiday characters, and so much more! Our characters are available for birthdays, community events, fundraisers, showers, weddings, reunions, etc.
By booking a party through Heroes and Tiaras, you’re not only supporting a small business but also several non-profit organizations throughout the Mahoning Valley, including The Rescue Mission, Angels for Animals, and several other organizations.

Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important piece of advice I have is to find something you love and are passionate about. I never say, “I have to go to work today”- I always say, “I get to go to work today.”
