Today we’d like to introduce you to Anita Katyal.
Hi Anita, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I am Anita and the first act of my journey started in India where I completed my engineering and worked as an IT professional till mid 20s. I got married to love of my life and we both moved to California 7 years back and that’s where the pivotal point or Act 2 of my journey began. I ventured into cooking purely as a survival instinct in a land far far away (husband is a Star Wars fan) and before even knowing fell in love with it. I kept on experimenting and enjoying every part of this quest. Now I am in Act 3 of my journey of being a homemaker and a toddler mom in the heartland of the United States.
As the pandemic hit in 2020, I spent most of my time in my kitchen playing around with different ingredients creating something delicious yet healthy dish. I officially started and sharing my recipes in 2021 as my goal was my recipe reach to more people. I believe ” Being healthy is a way of life ” Often, people think healthy dish is boring and I would want to change that perception through my page.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My experience so far in this journey is very nascent like a baby where every day brings a new learning, every setback brings a new opportunity to correct and keep going. I am enjoying the path right now and will admit there has been some minor bumps in social media usage but I choose to continue learning moving forward. It’s been a journey of continuous learning, reinventing about different arenas of this new space which includes learning different cuisines and culinary techniques.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I invest my heart and soul in my social media profile i.e, HerHealthyPalate. It is a compilation of my journey in the amazing world of culinary skills and associated explorations. Most people think that healthy food is boring and tasteless and I would like to change that perception. I think there are so many alternatives which we can use to make even day-to-day food tasty and healthy.
I share recipe with a healthy twist on my page. Moreover, all my recipes are quick to make and myself try them multiple times to improvise them before posting on my page. the most proud moments for me is when moms like me prepare their recipes and share their feedback with me.
There are some recipes/which have 250 plus saves on my Instagram which is better than expected citing my follower count. I feel really happy when people share the posts of their prepared food with my recipes and that makes my heart full of joy.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
So far, I have not ventured into any direct mentorship from anyone but the support, advice and encouragement I got from my fellow Instagram influencers in food blogging space and in general community feedback has kept me going
