Today we’d like to introduce you to Angela Young.
Hi Angela, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Angela D. Young, AKA “Dcor Chic.” I am a Business Development Strategist who has worked in the healthcare industry for over 20 years. I am also a licensed Assisted Living Administrator. My educational background and degrees are in the areas of Business Management & Marketing, as well as Fashion Merchandising and Interior Design.
Given my experience, it made perfect sense for me to pour my passion for people and creativity into launching Interior Reflections by Ange, LLC., an interior decorating and property staging firm in 2019. The marketing knowledge, relationships, and trust that I have gained over the years from working in healthcare have contributed to my success in building my personal business and various service lines.
I am also a certified Notary Public for the State of Ohio, an ordained Minister and Wedding Officiant, an elected official of the Cuyahoga County Central Committee, and a founding member of A.W.A.K.E. Women’s Empowerment Collective.
Needless to say, my goal is to assist my community in some capacity. I am constantly researching ways to expand. I look forward to collaborating with you soon!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of the biggest obstacles for me in growing my business was time management. I had to learn how to balance working a full-time job in Corporate America with managing my small business, as well as my personal life. In addition, I had to carve out time to create content and marketing collateral and to promote my business. Applications like Goggle Calendar, Calendly, Square Appointments, and HoneyBook to name a few, were lifesavers in assisting me in keeping things organized.
It can be very expensive contracting individuals to create content, develop marketing materials, etc. to promote your business. Therefore, I enrolled in various online workshops and attended trainings in order to learn how to do these things myself. I am no professional by any means, but I do well enough to produce nice, clean, unique pieces.
Though there are many, one last thing I would mention, that was very challenging and disappointing for me, was assuming family and friends would support, help promote, and pay asking price for my services. This was definitely not the case. My biggest supporters to this day are people I do not know or who I met through social media outlets. It is important to network with people you are not familiar with. Join groups, attend events, and register as a vendor at different trade shows. These are just a few suggestions that helped push my brand forward.

My approach to interior styling is completely client-focused. The bulk of my Interior Decorating business is in the form of Property Staging for many Real Estate professionals and Home Sellers. However, I do offer the following additional services: Virtual Consultations, Floor/Spatial Planning, Paint Color Consultations, Furniture & Textile Selection, Wall Décor, and Flooring Selection.
You seem to have experience in various areas, what other projects are you working on or services you plan to offer in the future?
Wedding Officiating by Ange is one of the branches that fall under the Interior Reflections by Ange / “Dcor Chic” brand umbrella. I service all of Northeast Ohio welcoming all faiths, religions, and beliefs.
I got ordained with AMM because I am committed to assisting individuals who have honest intentions and genuine love for their soulmate. It is my purpose to be an avenue in creating a world of peace and love by committing caring and loving couples to one another for their lifetime.
The services I provide include Wedding Consultations, Planning Meetings, Ceremony Editing, License Signings, Elopements, Formal Weddings, Commitment Ceremonies, and Vow Renewals.
