Meet Amber Hansen of Amber Hansen Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amber Hansen.

Hi Amber, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
The little things matter in life, as much as the big things! My husband and I have said this since we were dating in high school! I first found out I loved planning when my husband (boyfriend at the time) and I were grouped together and had to “plan our wedding” as a class project. I loved all the detail, research, timelines, and spreadsheets that came along with the good organization.

It’s safe to say we got an A on that. We finally did the real deal in 2012 when I became his Wife and a Mama in 2018.

We love to travel and do anything outdoors (hiking, camping, canoeing, shooting with our bows, the list is endless!) I became a certified wedding and event planner and started professionally coordinating as a lead in 2015. My goal is to make you feel like a guest at your own event, meaning you are completely relaxed and able to enjoy the event while I take care of the little things and the busy tasks of the day.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It was definitely and still is slow growth. With any business, they say if you make the five-year mark, you’ll probably make it. A lot of other business owners I network with have said it takes years to build your clientele and you probably won’t see it truly pick up till around the 10-year mark.

I’ve currently been doing this for 7 years and each year I see my business grow. Owning your business is never easy.

When starting out, I was working 40-hour work weeks and using my lunches to meet with potential clients and vendors. I’m now a momma of two toddlers and a wife running my wedding and event business, which has its own challenges, but I’m LOVING every minute of it!

We’ve been impressed with Amber Hansen Events, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Amber Hansen Events is a professional full-service wedding and event company based in Cincinnati Ohio. I specialize in helping local Cincinnati couples plan and make their wedding visions a reality! I also help US couples that are looking to elope or to have a destination wedding in Ireland. Whatever discounts and deals I can get I pass directly along to my clients. They should get the best deal possible when planning a wedding!

I meet with my clients by first doing a 1 0n 1 video call or in-person meeting for consultations. Here I learn more about you two as a couple and your vision for your big day. We’ll go over my services and see which one would be best for you and your budget. By the end of the planning process and your big day, I’m always SO happy for my couples. I feel like I just spent a year or two planning the best day ever with some friends.

A few tips for all you brides and grooms out there… while planning your wedding, take time to date each other during the process. I mean date like…don’t talk about wedding decisions, budget, or anything wedding related. If you do this once a month, and once your wedding day has come and gone you won’t feel like you’re at a loss for conversations because the past two years most of your conversations have been wedding related. Make it a game if you need to.

Whoever brings up wedding-related stuff first, looses and the other gets to pick the dessert for dinner.

What were you like growing up?
As I have prefaced above, I have always been organized, and responsible and love helping others. I was really into music and the outdoors which relates to outdoor weddings (especially destination weddings)! I was always great at planning and remembering things others couldn’t, especially the little things.

Once I had the assignment for wedding planning in sociology class, I knew that was something I would LOVE to do! I started talking with my school counselor about what I needed to do and what classes I need to take for my last year of high school. Once I graduated I took online courses to become a certified wedding planner.
