Meet Amanda Lott

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Lott.

Hi Amanda, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve always had a passion for photography and can usually be found with a camera on hand ready to capture the moments. I started Studio Lott in 2011 as a side business while working full-time as a Graphic Designer and balancing a family and ministry. It was quite the juggling act for many years, and though exhausted, I did not want to quit my business because it was my passion. I pulled many all-nighters (balancing 3 full-time jobs essentially) until God opened the door for the right time and opportunity to take that leap of faith into full-time entrepreneurship. I now balance just two jobs (family and Studio Lott), providing graphic design and photography services, and am living my dream and reaching my goals.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It was not always a smooth road. I had many sleepless nights when I would stay up to finish a freelance design project or edit a photo gallery, then sleep for a couple of hours, to then wake up and take the kids to school and daycare, to then go into my full-time job. After work, I’d get the kids, have dinner, bath time, and put them to bed, just to sit at my computer for more freelance work. This was taking a toll on me mentally and physically. My husband and I prayed for the right time to take that leap of faith, and once we felt the peace to make that decision, we did – and it has given me so much freedom.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a photographer and graphic designer. I specialize in lifestyle photography with a passion to help small businesses with their branding. I am known for making clients feel comfortable during each session and pride myself in capturing genuine moments in time. I am most proud of my growth over the years and using gifts in photography and in design to help my clients with their projects and special memories. When you work with me, you will feel like we are life-long friends, and you will leave the session with a new friend for life. I am genuinely passionate about capturing the feelings and emotions. I want to smile each time I look through my viewfinder.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For anyone starting out, I’d say keep on practicing, learning, growing, and most importantly – never give up. Keep your focus. I wish I had a close photographer-friend when I was starting out, and wish I had more confidence when I began my journey- but looking back, I am thankful for my own story, for learning and growing, every day. There are so many resources out there now- take advantage and never stop perfecting your craft and finding your niche.
