Meet Alexandra Dieckmann

Today we’d like to introduce you to Alexandra Dieckmann.

Alexandra Dieckmann

Hi Alexandra, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
Hi! My name is Alexandra Dieckmann; wife, mother, social media content creator and manager, (hopefully) future commercial pilot, and overall wearer of many hats. I’ve come to realize that I see the world majorly through its tiny moments of beauty rather than its moments of grandeur. That love for the little details, the things most people glance past, is what ultimately brought me to social media, where I started content creation and social media management roughly two years ago. I sought out to capture the things that you may notice out of the corner of your eye but pay no attention to: little things like the pleasant sound of chatter coming from the coffee shop you walk past on your way to work in the morning or the way the evening light perfectly illuminates your pot of soup, boiling on the kitchen stove for dinner. This love turned into an Instagram page where I could create a community of like-minded people, people who also saw beauty in the world the way I did. These past few years, I have learned so much about social media management and the process behind content creation. I learned how to use Instagram as a source of income while sharing lifestyle and fashion content that I genuinely love. I created this community in hopes of sharing beauty while also being a voice, a listener, a friend, and an avenue for like-minded people to find each other. I am still baffled, and most likely always will be, that there are people out in the world who are interested in little ole’ me and what I have to say in one tiny corner of the internet.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There has definitely been a fair share of bumps in this process. I’ve learned to balance being there for this community as well as knowing when to take time away from social media. If I begin to feel socially or creatively burned out, I tend to take a break. The internet in general, not just social media, is truly the Wild West. There are so many wonderful things about it, yet it has its aspects of negativity as well. I’ve always paid particular attention to who follows me, but even more so since having a daughter. There have been a couple fake accounts stealing my photos and impersonating me that have since been taken down, largely thanks to an amazing community who reported the accounts multiple times as well as finally obtaining a blue check mark to secure my account. Those experiences made me reconsider what I chose to share on my page; for my daughter’s safety, I stopped sharing her face after her first birthday.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
This is a complicated question because I really do wear lots of hats. My streams of income for my Instagram page come from contracted brand partnerships and affiliate links. I am also a part of the LTK style program, as well as Amazon’s influencer program, and hopefully soon, will begin social media management for several local businesses. I also work part-time at a local coffee shop and am currently slowly working towards my pilot’s license while caring for my one-year-old daughter at home. I truly can’t name one thing I am most proud of. I am just very proud of how I juggle all these hats simultaneously. I have learned how to have a work/ life balance that allows me to be present for my daughter’s childhood. That’s very important to me. To answer your other question, I also don’t really feel set apart from others. Most days, I am just me juggling life. However, when it comes to my Instagram page, I do feel somewhat set apart. I’ve never had the goal to “become famous” or “go viral,” but I really do enjoy growing my community. It feels more like creating friendships than gaining followers. I’m not sure how frequently content creators share this mindset, but I’m thankful for the handful of like-minded creators I’m connected with through my page who share this goal with me.

We love surprises, fun facts, and unexpected stories. Is there something you can share that might surprise us?
I thought about this question for a while; I wanted to think of something unique and interesting but honestly, the only thing that keeps coming to mind is that I don’t like to eat cheese! I’ll have it on pizza and in Cheez-It form, but that’s about it haha.
