Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Bailey.
Hi Tiffany, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
The way my mind works has always been fascinating to me. The ability to tap into both sides of the brain and effectively create something from nothing has always intrigued me. Whether that is developing a SQL code that pulls data to answer business questions, picking up a paintbrush to put a vision in my mind on a canvas, or picking up a pen to write a new song, my ability to blend both sides of my brain and my life experiences have gotten me to where I am today.
Naturally a scholar, I did well in school. I enjoyed science and mathematics, obtaining a degree in mathematics. Through my internships in college, I gained early experience in data analytics. This experience landed me getting my first analytics role in 2017. I have been fortunate enough to gain experience analyzing insurance, pharmacy, and medical records data. I’ve been able to take my experience to help build the analytics team for the Center for Family Safety and Healing in Columbus, Ohio.
Music has been a part of my life since I can remember. I spent my childhood singing with my family. My dad would have us sing together on our way to church, and my sisters and I would often harmonize together in our free time. I began to read music around the 3rd grade. I was a part of church choirs and school choirs. I eventually turned to instruments and became well-versed in the French horn, participating in award-winning concerts, symphonic, orchestra, and marching bands from high school to college.
Visual arts have been something that I would do in secret. I typically didn’t share the work until I took my first Art class in middle school, earning my first art award by the end of the year. I continued to create pieces for myself until 2020, when I began to showcase my art on social media. Since sharing my art, I’ve participated in art shows and exhibitions throughout Ohio.
These and other experiences in my life caused me to start BTB Artistry in 2022. BTB Artistry is a company in both the music and visual arts industries. Through BTB Artistry, I work with other companies and organizations to create art in whatever capacity.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The road has not been smooth at all. Although I participated in various activities as a child, coming from a large family had financial impacts that delayed the development of my talents. While I was fortunate enough to participate in various art programs, I could only create while attending sessions or practices. I had to use ingenuity to create outside of these programs.
I struggle with anxiety, which makes me an overthinker and a perfectionist at times. I seek therapy to help me process what I go through and lean on my community of people to help me when it becomes overwhelming. I also have a firm foundation of faith and live by the saying that regardless of how I feel or think of a situation, “God got me.”
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
As an analyst, I gather, interpret, and use complex data to develop actionable steps for clinicians, therapists, and administration. In family violence, we are always looking to improve our process to help families who are facing intense situations.
In the music space, I work with The Rec Studio at the Linden Community Center in artist development, music production, and songwriting. I also run the Rec Studio Instagram page as a content creator.
In the visual art space, I am known for mixed-media acrylic painting, adding flowers and other textures to my paintings to make them stand out. I’m proud that I put my art out for the world to see. It can bring anxiety to share a new piece.
My ability to use the creative and analytic parts simultaneously sets me apart. I bring a fresh perspective that others usually don’t think about as a creative.
Can you talk to us a bit about happiness and what makes you happy?
Anytime I’m creating something, I’m happy. Art is my outlet to deal with life situations. When I can’t find the words to say out loud, I find the lyrics through my pen. When words aren’t enough, colors make things clear.
