Today we’d like to introduce you to Tierrah (teah) Ojeda
Hi Tierrah (Teah) , thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my photography journey over 15 years ago when I was in early college and needed an “arts” class to meet my graduation requirements. I took a photography 101 class, fell in love with it, and haven’t looked back since. Over the years, I have done photography in some form or fashion for friends & family as well as for little side jobs but, it’s always been more of a side hustle. Earlier this year, I finally decided to take that leap of faith and leave my corporate job to pursue photography full time.
Today, ScenebyTeah Photography does professional branding and event photography. Some of our biggest clients for events are Dress For Success Columbus, Columbus City Council, and the WSBA. As far as professional branding, I do everything from headshots to full business branding sessions. My clients are mostly women small business owners and influencers.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It hasn’t been a smooth road. Being a mother of two who homeschools, a wife, and a pastor of a church that is in the midst of a relaunch has made building a business that much more interesting. Additionally, access to capital for the purposes of maintaining the daily operations and growth has been a challenge. My company is seen as a “start up” right now and these days, there’s not a lot of lenders out there welcoming start ups with open arms.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a creative at heart. I love anything that has to do with creating such as painting, sewing, crocheting, pottery, etc.
Photography is one of my main artistic outlets, one that I could get lost in for hours on end if I had the time. What sets me apart from others is my signature shooting style that produces “bold & vibrant” imagery. I’ve been told that my work is captivating because the subjects of my images literally pop off the page and when you look at a series of my images from an event, you get that feeling that makes you feel like you were there.
At this point, I’m most proud of all that I have accomplished only having been in business full time for 9 months. I’ve completed a women’s small business accelerator program, got my work published in four different magazines, gained new clients, invested in my continuing growth and education and got so much better with networking.
How can people work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love to partner with other local creatives and photographers as I am a big advocate for community & collaboration over competition. I currently partner with a few other local photographers from time to time as well as with some other marketing professionals to deliver brand photography for their clients projects.
If others want to work with me, they can simply just reach out and connect with me on LinkedIn, Instagram or send me a message via the ScenebyTeah website.
