Today we’d like to introduce you to Takisa Jackson.
Hi Takisa, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My name is Takisa Jackson but most people know me as Mz. Crazy Tee. I began my music career in high school and I’ve been following that dream since. After graduating high school, I decided to go to college and major in Visual Communication & Design a.k.a Graphic Design. After receiving my degree, I realized that even though I was creative and had an eye for things I honestly did not possess the skill to draw/design. Thankfully my creativity allowed me to graduate and my mind came up with enough designs to get me across that stage. Fast forward to today I am not only a musician but I am now the owner of not 1, not 2, not 3 but 4 businesses. As we all know being a musician isn’t cheap so while on this journey to turn my dreams into reality, I decided to create more opportunities that allowed me to invest in my dream.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
This journey has been far from smooth I’ve had plenty of detours, I’ve hit plenty of roads full of construction, I’ve gone the wrong way, I’ve even run out of gas on the road but I never stopped. I’ve been my own manager, my own label, marketing team, PR, etc. I’ve created several albums that no one has ever heard because I became my worst critic. I used everything in my bank account to create an album only to find out the engineer didn’t mix or master it correctly. I became so discouraged so drained and so numb. I struggled with holding on to the very thing that has kept me sane….my dream…. music.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am an artist turned serial entrepreneur. If you are looking for graphic design or print services my company @TeeThePromoPlug could be of assistance. We help build brands from start to finish. If you’ve ever seen me perform you know that I come with the merchandise, the table, the retractable banner, buttons, etc. I’ve always had an eye for design and a passion for marketing so my company is nowhere to assist others. As I mentioned earlier in the interview I have several businesses and I love them all equally. My second business is @MzCrazyTeeBoutique it’s pretty self-explanatory but I will let you know we carry @MzCrazyTee merchandise and fashion accessories like jewelry, sunglasses, phone cases, croc charms and so much more. My third business is @TeeMoss_Gel where we specialize in sea moss gel products which are available and prepared fresh on the first Sunday of every month. My fourth and final business is coming soon. You’ll have to follow me on Instagram @MzcCrazyTee to see what that business is. As far as what I’m proud of I’m just thankful that I never gave up. The journey may have had a few detours but the destination is still the same and that’s the top. I’m the package everything the game needs packaged all in one person and that’s what makes me different,
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
I was diagnosed with an eye condition a few years ago but it only made my vision clearer. The scariest moment of my life was literally the moment that my life needed. I don’t use it as an excuse or a weakness and hopefully, those that come across this interview now understand that nothing can stop you!!
