Today we’d like to introduce you to Morgan Zimmerman.
Hi Morgan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always had a vision of having a mobile salon. But the idea grew from a venue I was familiar with that had the world’s smallest bridal suite.
Rewind to 2013: I was in a wedding where the whole bridal party (10 females + 1 flower girl) had to get ready in a cramped Holiday Inn hotel room. Which this then lead to terrible “getting ready” pictures. All you could see in the photos was a nasty comforter in the background.
Fast forward to 2020: I told my “dream” to my fiancé (now husband) and his former athlete now friend. We were driving to have dinner + drinks & we passed an airstream, and the rest is history.
My husband’s former athlete is now my business partner, and we now own and operate Hitched.
Jared Weyler, former University of Minnesota Football player, now works full-time as a CPA + helps run a hair, makeup, and nail business. Sounds crazy – but it works. He does the background work and I take care of the rest.
I work as a hairstylist + competitive cheer coach throughout the week while we still grow our business while talking to numerous brides weekly, attend wedding shows, staff weddings with our amazing team of 25 hair stylist, makeup artist, and nail technicians.
Over the course of just 2.5 years, we have turned a dream into an actual business.
We have renovated an entire 1972 – 31-foot airstream into an amazing salon with seating for up to 12. We have 3 hair and makeup stations, blue tooth speakers, a full bar with sink, mini fridge, and working restroom.
We have hosted numerous weddings, proms, homecomings, birthday parties, and ladies’ night out.
When renting the airstream, you can use our team or supply your own. Also, if the airstream isn’t needed but you still need hair and makeup or nails, we can send them to you as well.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has been a fairly smooth road building this business. Luckily, I have been in the industry for quite some time, and it was easy building a team.
There was a learning curve when it came to renovating the airstream. Jared and my husband Jonathan Zimmerman renovated the entire airstream from the ground up- alone. It took a lot of YouTube watching and some patience.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a hair, makeup, nail business. We bring the beauty to you. We are known for beautiful updos and styles, flawless makeup and have the best nail techs in town.
I’m most proud of how unique we are. We are the only company in the area that can provide a mobile salon for your “getting ready needs” for a large group of people.
I love that we are a unique experience. And that we provide something that you will never forget.
