Hi Loi, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
I’m from Vietnam, and I came to the United States to follow a big dream. I worked hard and overcame many difficult interviews to get here. In 2023, I began studying at the University of Cincinnati, majoring in Business Analytics and Operations Management.
Although I’m focused on my studies, my true passion is music. I dream of becoming a famous singer. In my free time, I write songs and sing whenever I can. I’m teaching myself music, step by step, and I’m determined to make my dream come true.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Living in the U.S. hasn’t been easy. I’ve faced many challenges, especially with the cost of living. I have to take care of all my expenses on my own, so I’m currently looking for a job to support myself and to keep my passion for music alive. Sometimes, my English isn’t perfect, but I’m always trying to improve. No matter how hard things get, I won’t give up on my dream.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am currently pursuing a degree in Business Analytics and Operations Management at the University of Cincinnati. My academic journey has given me a strong foundation in data analysis, decision-making, and process improvement. I’m especially interested in how data-driven strategies can help businesses operate more efficiently and make smarter choices.
As an international student from Vietnam, I’ve faced many challenges, including adapting to a new culture and managing my living expenses on my own. These experiences have made me more resilient, independent, and determined to succeed. I’m actively seeking job opportunities that will allow me to gain hands-on experience, develop my skills, and grow professionally in the business world. Moreover, I release my new song which name is Crush On You – FEDY. FEDY is my artist name
In the future, I hope to combine my business knowledge with my creative passions to bring unique value to whatever career path I pursue.
Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Finding a mentor and building a network can be difficult, especially when you’re new to a country and still improving your English. What has helped me most is not being afraid to talk to people. I try to join student organizations, attend university events, and connect with classmates and professors. Even small conversations can lead to valuable advice or new opportunities.
