Life & Work with Liz Turner

Today we’d like to introduce you to Liz Turner.

Hi Liz, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I loved baking at a very young age and later as an adult, I had the opportunity to make cupcakes for a restaurant I worked at in New Orleans so my passion became lucrative. In 2017 I moved back home to Sandusky and became a home-based baker setting up at the farmer’s market and different events. I won a grant to help with a storefront in 2019 and from there Bake Erie really took off! I’ve been baking every day since.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has been a smooth yet educational road. I continue to grow and learn every day. The main struggles are just adjusting to all curveballs and keeping up with the growth.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We have a different menu at the bakery every single day which allows us to constantly try new recipes and keep our customers interested. The fan favorites we keep in heavy rotation are our banana pudding, ooey gooey bars, southern bread pudding, and cassata cake. I’m proud to keep everything 100% homemade and fresh. We also take pride in our custom orders which really stand out at any event.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
I love to support other local small businesses and collaborate often. To work with me you can email (bakeerie@gmail.com) or reach out on social media (@bakeerie). We appreciate all support in the form of reviews, social media shoutouts, shopping local whenever you can, and more. We are always looking for new shops to wholesale our fresh baked goods as well!
