Today we’d like to introduce you to Kennedy Taylor.
Kennedy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
At the age of 20, I was in a very dark place and felt defeated. I believed there was more to life than what I was experiencing, but I felt like the battle I was fighting was too big for me to win. I wanted to give up, but every time I tried to quit— God wouldn’t let me. In April of 2020, I decided to rededicate my life to Christ and give life another shot, but this time with God by my side. 11 months later, I got married to my biggest supporter— my husband, Ryan. A year after that, I conceived our son. I was diagnosed with Hyperemesis Gravidarum and had a very traumatic pregnancy experience. My husband was the only one working, and we were struggling financially. We eventually had to move out of our home due to a lack of finances and move in with family. After giving birth to my son, I tried to find a job despite not wanting to leave my son, but God didn’t open any doors. I knew this lack we were experiencing was not our portion, but I felt so stuck, and I wasn’t sure what to do. So, I prayed and asked God for guidance and to open a door for us to get out of this financial rut. God answered my prayer, and in December of 2022, I gained 10,000 followers in 6 days. I knew that the Lord was calling me to content creation, so I began influencing. I made some money from this, but not enough to really help my family, so I went back to the drawing board and asked God for guidance again. In May of 2023, I felt led to start my User-generated Content (UGC) business. I started making 4 figures a month four months into starting my business! UGC has been such a blessing for my family and I! God has used it to bless us abundantly financially, and I am so grateful. I’ve gotten to not only help my family but also stay home with my son while simultaneously working with and building relationships with some amazing brands! UGC, and being a business owner in general, is far from easy but I truly do love what I get to do every day!
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a first-time mom, the biggest struggle I experienced was balancing my role as a mother and an entrepreneur. It was quite overwhelming at first, to be honest. It felt like I had two babies, and I was working 24/7, seven days a week. However, I knew God had called me to start this business, and I also knew He had called me to be a mother, so quitting one wasn’t an option. Therefore, I sought God for strategy. I realized the problem wasn’t what God had put on my plate, it was my lack of strategy. I was trying to manage what was on my plate without a plan. I understood that He blessed me with my son and my business so if that was the case, that also meant He knew the best way for me to handle them without neglecting one or the other. God is an intentional God; if He knew it wasn’t wise for me to be a mother and be an entrepreneur, He wouldn’t have placed me in both roles at the same time. So, although I struggled with managing both at first— God gave me a strategy to manage both and manage them well.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a content creator! I do both influencing and User-generated content (UGC).
As an influencer, I share my journey of doing life with Jesus Christ as a wife and mother.
As a UGC creator, I work with brands to create organic content and/or paid media for them.
I focus mainly on UGC as it is my primary source of income. I am currently working with Mary Ruth Organics, and in December of 2023, they invited me to a content shoot in Los Angeles, California! This was a really big moment for me considering I had only been a UGC creator for 6 months when they invited me. I was completely shocked that they chose me to come to their content event, but it just reminded me the importance of including God in everything you do. When you do life with Him, He will open doors for you that you wouldn’t have even imagined.
I love knowledge, and I believe that’s what sets me apart from others. I am always willing to learn, grow, invest in myself/my business, etc. I don’t ever get to a point where I think I know it all. I also spend a lot of time studying the industry I’m in so that I can become better at what I do.
What matters most to you?
Jesus Christ. He is the reason I am here today, sharing my story with others and making a positive impact in the world. Without Him, I wouldn’t have been able to accomplish all that I have so far. Jesus gives me the knowledge, wisdom, and understanding I need to walk in my purpose and calling. Everything I do is for His glory! My goal in life isn’t to be seen or known but for people to see and know Jesus through me.
