Life & Work with Joseph Simonetti of Akron

Today we’d like to introduce you to Joseph Simonetti

Hi Joseph, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started my business (Positivity Runs the World) as a clothing brand my senior year of high school. The initial goal was to spread positivity and mental health awareness. As time went on, I grew a desire to bring change to the world. I found that the best way was to target the youth. Every child deserves in equal opportunity to succeed. My goal is to give kids the tools they need to thrive.

In hopes to help build a better future for the youth, I changed my business to operate as a non profit organization currently PRTW FOUNDATION) to help build funding to give back to those in need. We host an annual back to school drive where we give away free school supplies.

Money is raised through clothing sales, donations, events, etc.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The path has been more complicated than I could have ever imagined. I taught myself almost everything I’ve learned. From how to open a business, to doing embroidery on the hoodies we’re selling, everything has been learned through trial and error.

The most valuable lessons I’ve learned have been through my failures. Learning the importance of patience has by far been the most difficult task in running this business. Having the ability to stay focused through error has not only helped me succeed, but has opened my eyes to a new perspective of life.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I have a passion for creating new things. Bringing something to life that was once just an idea in my mind is a surreal feeling.

My specialty is clothing. I’ve been doing embellishment on my pieces since I first started my business. I’m now getting in to clothing design. Making pieces from scratch or giving old pieces new life. I’m growing into designing new things like purses, wallets, furniture, etc. My passion is in design and bringing my ideas to reality.

My new line, SIMO, allows creative freedom. There are no boundaries in this new venture. I will be selling a wide variety of items that have all been designed by me or by other artists around me. The goal is to show the world my art and give others the platform to share their creativity as well.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
The community is amazing. The amount of support from the community in unreal. They all want to help uplift others. Without them, there would be no us.
