Today we’d like to introduce you to Jimmy King.

Hi Jimmy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I began my musical journey in Detroit, Michigan. I was a member of an original band that had decent success, touring the eastern US and being featured in the big national magazines of the time. When that time ended, I moved to Hollywood, California where I worked in film production for almost a decade before returning the Detroit to work in advertising. Moved to Columbus, Ohio, in 2009 where I got back up on stage, performing in cover bands. I currently live in Cincinnati, Ohio and perform in one of the midwest’s biggest party bands, The Martini Affair.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My career has been a long serious of mistakes and failures but luckily I am pretty resilient and good at learning from those many mistakes. My original band was on the verge of getting signed when the music scene changed. I was about to sell a TV show to a network when another similar show stole my thunder. I’ve been so close, so many times. But over time, priorities change. What you once would kill for, now is not important.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Of all the projects I’ve been involved in, the one I am most proud of is my band, The Martini Affair. This was my vision from concept to creation and beyond. We’ve been performing at weddings, corporate events, festivals, casinos, private parties and live music venues across the midwest since 2013. We have continued to evolve by refining our setlist and getting the right mix of talent in the band. We’re known for being an ultra=professional band that comes off like a wild and crazy party. We perform hit songs across genres and spanning the past 5 decades – the biggest and most loved bangers that get everyone up and singing and dancing with us. We feed off the energy of our dance floor and that provides what people seem to love most about us – our energy.

Alright so before we go can you talk to us a bit about how people can work with you, collaborate with you or support you?
The Martini Affair consists of five members. I am the bassist. I performed with my drummer, John Jenkins, in the legendary Columbus party band, Granny Shot, before he joined The Martini Affair. Our guitarist, Will Newsome, also performs with his original band, This Day Forever. We have co-lead singers, male and female. Brandon Anderson joined us recently and comes from Shadowbox Live – a popular performing troupe in Ohio. Tiffany Bumgarner is a legendary vocalist in Central Ohio, performing most recently with Radio Tramps prior to joining The Martini Affair. I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention my partner in life who supports me in all of my endeavors, the beautiful and kind Alycia Renaud.
