Life & Work with Jess Adkins

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jess Adkins.

Hi Jess, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
I started on social media documenting my weight loss progress. I lost 150 pounds. Slowly it became obvious my audience cares about ME the person. Not just my weight loss. So my social media are more of a lifestyle channel. Just days in the life of someone with a normal but fun life. I think, especially during the pandemic, social media made us feel less alone. It was the only way we could connect.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There are always struggles, for sure. I am very shy so it was very intimidating at first to talk to even one person who may follow me, much less nearly half a million people! But helping people like they have a friend, or even a channel they can go to for comfort, is so worth it to me.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Professionally; I am an administrative assistant, Sr. I’m the typical corporate millennial. I do things like payroll, expense accounts, and such. I enjoy the work I do. I also work for a low-carb chocolate company, and I am so proud of that as well! I work in the social media department and that is where my true passion lies. I’m also a micro-influencer. I get paid to make videos by HONESTLY reviewing products. I have three jobs but I like staying busy.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
Even though I’m not from or live in Ohio, I visit it 2-3 times a year every single year! My family lives in Northern Ohio. We always plan trips to the Toledo Zoo & we always take in a Toledo Mud Hens game. I love both of those activities, but my fave part of visiting Ohio is visiting Put In Bay!
