Today we’d like to introduce you to Haylie Robinson.
Hi Haylie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Today HayRobin Media Productions LLC is working on a PBS television program titled Finding Festivals, but it all began with a dream and a “no.”
From the time I was a child watching the Travel Channel with my grandmother, I knew I always wanted to be a travel show host. Serving my hometown in an ambassador role as the Clyde Fair Queen and visiting neighboring festivals is what birthed the travel show concept “Finding Festivals.” At the time, many didn’t believe a television series about festivals would be good, but one person, my role model, did – Samantha Brown.
After being shot down for a hosting opportunity on an online video series in 2016, I established the Hayliestory brand. I was tired of waiting for permission, so I created the opportunity. The brand started as a place viewers could go to learn more about the local experiences and expanded into several mini-series, including City Surge, Small Town Charm, and Extended Weekend Travel Guide.
I worked with a local filmmaker with the intention of making a television-quality travel show and produced 14 episodes of City Surge. It was this project that caught the eye of local PBS affiliate WGTE. The local station liked what Hayliestory was producing and offered to help me get my dream television series highlighting festivals on broadcast television.
The series is titled Finding Festivals and will use annual events to educate PBS viewers on art, culture, community, heritage, agriculture, and history. The mission of the series is to unite people through education and entertainment. What excites me most is introducing a travel style anyone can implement. Attending festivals provokes interest in humanities and brings community members together. Plus, this is the first-year festivals are fully coming back after a two-year hiatus, and we are thrilled to be documenting what this means to the community.
It has been six years since Hayliestory was established. I always knew I wanted to produce and host a travel genre television program. I’m excited to share that we have filmed the first episode of Finding Festivals and are actively fundraising to complete the project. We are $85,000 away from completing the project, and in addition to sponsorship opportunities donations toward the PBS television program can be made at https://filmmakerscollab.networkforgood.com/projects/54464-filmmakers-collaborative-finding-festivals
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
While I have been blessed with many supporters, it hasn’t been the smoothest journey. Hayliestory was established just days after being shot down for a hosting opportunity on an online video series. I’ve been turned down for many opportunities for various reasons from not having the “right look” to being too “green.
It’s my mission to unite communities, educate viewers and inspire people to create amazing memories that motivate me to keep going. I truly am passionate about helping people strengthen relationships, build confidence and connect with their community.
I know there are many more bumps on the road ahead of me but know with my deep passion and wonderful supporters the mission to help others will be accomplished.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
By day I work a full-time job at Cooper Smith and off the clock I am the owner of HayRobin Media Productions LLC and work as the executive producer/host/director/
Travel has always been about the memories and connections made which is what sets Hayliestory apart. I am passionate about helping people make lifetime memories and love connecting them with fun experiences they can do by themselves, with a loved one, or group of friends.
Do you have any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
I have so many memories I cherish from my childhood. The one that influenced me the most was taking a two-hour road trip one way with my grandparents to visit Ohio Amish Country. It was the highlight of my summer. I loved learning about the Swiss heritage, Amish Culture, and how cheese is made. Yes, cheese. I loved visiting the cheese factory and learning about the process of it being made.
