Life & Work with Danna O’Connor of CLEVELAND

Today we’d like to introduce you to Danna O’Connor

Hi Danna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Cleveland-based alternative rock band Post Saga has been carving out its place in the music scene since its formation in 2017. Founded by Danna O’Connor, the band originally began as a project alongside their then-bassist, steadily evolving into the dynamic force it is today.

Post Saga made its mark early on, playing local shows in Akron and Kent before expanding into Cleveland’s thriving music scene. Their debut EP, released in 2019, was the culmination of a year spent writing, refining their sound, and performing across Northeast Ohio.

Like many independent artists, the COVID-19 pandemic posed a significant challenge. However, instead of slowing down, the band pushed forward, using the time to craft their sophomore EP, Thru the Window. During this period, they also filmed a music video and dropped their breakout single, “Call My Name,” which quickly gained traction among fans.

Since 2020, Post Saga has continued to build momentum. They released their third EP, Circles, embarked on three tours in 2024, and even collaborated with Saucy Brew Works to launch their own branded beer—blending music and craft brewing into a unique experience for fans.

Now, with their sights set on the future, the band is actively writing and recording their fourth EP while performing live shows, solidifying their place as one of Cleveland’s most exciting independent acts to watch.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Post Saga briefly broke up in January of 2023 but luckily regained some inspiration and the result of that was our 3rd EP being written and released. Sometimes taking a break and reshaping a way of thinking can help bring inspiration to the table.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am the lead singer of Post Saga and the biggest thing I am proud of in the band is the fact that we don’t identify with any genre of music. Our biggest strength is that we can not describe our sound and we leave that up to the listener. It’s hard to put our music into a box because it is a bit of everything.

I have also find a need in the community where musicians needs access to resources for booking and other network outreach. I created DIRECTLINKCLE.com which is a music resource site to venues, festivals, labels etc. This gives contact information directly to the musician for outreach.

I also do sound and video engineering for a Cleveland based podcast called, LOCLEGROWN. It’s been very rewarding and has helped me improve my own musical ear when it comes to recording artists for them.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Collaboration, networking, sharing resources and listening to your fellow music mates and the people in your community.
