Today we’d like to introduce you to Chrissy Harris.
Hi Chrissy, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
Back in 2016, I was in the hunt for a good-smelling home product that offered a natural ingredients. I could not find what I was looking for in the stores, so I decided to create my own product. My company was founded in February of 2017, specializing in all natural soy wax candles that burn for 60 hours. The goal of my candle company, Plain Jane Enterprises is to create an experience of the natural smells we already experience in life transformed in soy wax candle form.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
I have worked on rebranding recently due to the changes that COVID 19 brought about with not being able to do in person vendor events. 2022 is time of upgrading and streamlining my products and operations.

My day job, I operate as a career coach assisting my clients with creating a strong job search strategy. I also help my clients with training opportunities in our local area. I have ten plus years of experience in the nonprofit field as a case manager and employment specialist. I also have a background in sales and customer service,
Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s life and career. Any advice?
I think it’s important to define what is important to you when on the search for a mentor. Get out of your comfort zone and find networking events through meetup.com and eventbrite.com. I have been able to use these types of online platforms to connect with people I would not normally meet in my day to day life. I have also reached out to my existing groups of friends to see if they know any industry people I can connect with in addition to my own efforts.
