Today we’d like to introduce you to Br’teway Nevafold

Hi Br’teway, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I don’t come from much. Where I’m from things are unpredictable. You have to keep your guard up at all times. My earliest memories were violent. I had good days but more so days where I had to defend myself all the time and some days when I was very young I couldn’t even do that. However I kept the love that I was born with, somehow but I can’t say the warzone didn’t change me. I watched my mom struggle to keep the family afloat while my dad spent a lot of his time getting high. It wasn’t long before I learned how to make money for myself. My first hustle was getting up early with my brother Dee to look for sellable trash on peoples lawns. I found cd players games good clothes, etc and all things were able to be sold. My “dad” showed me my second hustle which was selling candy. But I was being used for my cute face I guess because after we’d go out to sell, he’d ask to borrow all the money. My third hustle was cleaning houses with my mom. I was able to continue my candy selling with the money I made from that. And my fourth hustle and lifelong hustle is making music with dreams of one day being able to buy my family a house and have a better life than the one I had. These were my early days. I wrote my first song when I was 6. It’s wasn’t hard to do because I just reflected off of my already eventful life. I got in the studio for the first time when I was 13. Before then, I recorded on karaoke machines and anything else I could record from. I was in the 8th grade when people discovered I could rap. I kinda blew up in my school. Well schools.. we got evicted quite a few times so I was the new kid a lot. But every body seemed to catch on to my music quick and I began to be kind of known in my city. I wasn’t making any money then off music so I had to develop other hustles to provide. Fast foward to today, I’m still on the grind to get what I’ve been working so long towards. It’s been a bumpy ride but I am determined and I feel like I’m close.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The road has been rough. I call it heartbreak rd. I had to deal with everyone, even close ones purposely sabotage me as I grinded and helped others. I have been scammed and cheated by venues, studios and everything industry related you can think of. I’ve been shot on the way, lost many close friends to gun violence as well. All while struggling with my mental heath. I faced an alcohol addiction while trying to cope with everything and I even overdosed in 2017 1 month after being shot in the head. That was the one incident that woke me up completely… losing my life and being blessed enough to get it back. every struggle I faced provided a lesson. This lesson is what I take with me every day. This year I heard a voice tell me to move out the state but I didn’t listen so I kept grinding while being homeless. And to think, I already didn’t have much but God made himself very clear recently and took every, the car I was living in, my relationship my jobs I kept trying to maintain. Now I can clearly feel the force upon me. I am moving out the state in a couple weeks. And I have the best feeling about it besides the numbness from the pain of loss. I will prevail I am 100% sure now

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a songwriter/ performer and I have a clothing brand called Nfe in the works. I have performed at the Agora, the grog shop, the mall and a few different festivals and I’ve had a few big opportunities along the way. I am destined to make a living off my talents and story.

My message is to never give up even at your absolute. Your future needs who you are now to pull it together and maintain sanity as best you can! PLEASE
