Life & Work with Brian Swinehart of Covington Ohio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brian Swinehart

Hi Brian, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I grew up in Covington Ohio. Covington is a small charming town of 2,ooo people and is a fabulous place to raise a family. My father Howard and Mother Susan were both attorneys and were very involved in my life. I had a younger sister Kristen and two half sisters Ruth and Ellen and a half brother Dale.
As a child I enjoyed the outdoors and playing sports. My first job was as a paper boy when I was 10 years old. I had the opportunity to ride my bike through town as I delivered news papers.
Growing up in a small town has a lot of advantages one of which is building strong bonds with your classmates. When you live in a small town you know everyone well because there aren’t many of you. I knew all the kids in my school.
In High School I joined the wrestling team. My Senior year of high school I achieved my goal of becoming a State Qualifier in wrestling. Which was a huge accomplishment.
After graduating High School in 1998 I went to Edison Community College for a semester where I took several classes including an acting class. The Acting Class was my favorite and my teacher Patricia Spielman was a very positive influence on me and she told me I had an innate acting talent. In 1999 my Dad died which was very difficult on me and changed my life path.
I went on to compete in the World Championships Of Performing Arts in Los Angeles where I won the boys division in acting. This motivated me to move to California and throw my hat in the ring to be a Hollywood actor. My Teacher Patricia put me in touch with legendary wardrobe stylist Bernadette O’Brien who worked on movies and TV shows such as Murder She Wrote. I ended up moving into Bernadette’s house living in her attic for $300 a month and August for free because it got so hot.
Bernadette brought me on to the lot of Paramount Pictures where I met some extras who were working on the show Roswell. I asked them how they got their job and they told me to go to Central Casting. The next day I signed up at Central Casting and got an extra job on the show Freaks And Geeks. Through this job I became eligible for the Screen Actors Guild.
So I started paying my $300 a month rent through being an extra on TV Shows and Movies. Then in 2002 I went to an open mic and tried standup comedy. At first I would do one show a month. However three years later I was performing every week and have since performed at major venues all over America.
My comedy and acting career were both filled with a lot of success including three Super Bowl commercial appearances, working on the movie Fast & Furious 7, being a Standin for Matthew McConaghey, and producing a feature film movie and numerous award winning short films.
In 2020 I decided to leave California because of the corruption coming form the Governor of California Gavin Newsom. Under the authoritarian rule of Gavin Newsom California had become living Hell. A dangerous place to live with crime on every street corner and rules and regulations coming from Gavin Newsom that were designed to destroy working class Americans.
With the freedom and safety abolished in California I decided to move back home to the beautiful town of Covington Ohio. I fell back in love with that amazing little town. Although it may seem as if I would have to give up my dreams in the entertainment industry when leaving Hollywood it did not play out that way. I began getting a lot of acting work from my Cincinnati agent PCG talent. I also went back to Edison Community College and received my Associates degree. I’ve made numerous short films in Covington and am in pre production for a Feature film called Trials Of Life which is a true story of a murder trial my Dad was a lawyer on. This school year I will also be accomplishing another major life goal. I’m going to be going the Defiance College wrestling team as I go for my Bachelors Degree. At age 45 this will make me one of the oldest college wrestlers in history.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No. In 2018 I lost part of two fingers on a boat accident which sent me into a depression.
