Larry Lemuel of Youngstown on Life, Lessons & Legacy

Larry Lemuel shared their story and experiences with us recently and you can find our conversation below.

Larry, so good to connect and we’re excited to share your story and insights with our audience. There’s a ton to learn from your story, but let’s start with a warm up before we get into the heart of the interview. What is something outside of work that is bringing you joy lately?
Pickleball!

Can you briefly introduce yourself and share what makes you or your brand unique?
I’m Larry Lemuel, a Gospel rap artist with a heart to share the hope and truth of Jesus Christ through music. After reconnecting with my faith in 2024, I committed my gifts to creating songs that inspire, encourage, and point people back to God.

My debut Gospel single “On My Shoulders” captures that journey of surrender and strength in Christ, and it’s just the beginning. From ministering at youth camps in Kenya to hosting events in my community, I use every platform God gives me to impact lives with His Word.

Through my music and ministry, my mission is simple: to show that the Gospel is alive, powerful, and able to transform hearts, including mine.

Okay, so here’s a deep one: Who taught you the most about work?
My parents taught me the value of hard work early on. That foundation shaped not only my character, but also how I approach my music and ministry. I don’t take shortcuts, I give my all, and I trust God with the rest.

What did suffering teach you that success never could?
The struggles taught me that joy is still present in the midst of pain. Even when life felt heavy and suffering seemed endless, I learned that God can turn trials into testimonies and struggles into strength. Joy doesn’t come from avoiding hardship but from trusting Him through it.

So a lot of these questions go deep, but if you are open to it, we’ve got a few more questions that we’d love to get your take on. How do you differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts?
The way I differentiate between fads and real foundational shifts is by asking myself, “Where is this rooted?”
My foundation is in my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, so if it’s not rooted in Him, it might look great today, but it’ll fade away tomorrow.

Before we go, we’d love to hear your thoughts on some longer-run, legacy type questions. What is the story you hope people tell about you when you’re gone?
The story I hope people tell about me when I’m gone is that I was a genuine, caring, and loving individual, and that I did everything I could to share the Good News and encourage everyone I came in contact with.
