Hi Vanessa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was excited to bring Kerwell to the Cleveland area this past July. As a mother of 3 and wife to a former NFL athlete, I’ve spent almost 5 years in the hemp industry and been a leader in the organic product space for a decade. I align with the founder of Kerwell, Kerry Aiyash’s, core values of purity, integrity, customer relationships, and results.
In addition to being a woman-owned business, both Vanessa and Kerwell share a passion for science, and nature, and bringing the highest of standards to the CBD space through expertise and education. “Hemp has transformed the lives of my family and me in so many ways- whether it be through loss, balancing motherhood, or juggling a demanding work schedule, I use CBD to help me feel that best I can naturally.
After playing in the NFL, my husband also relies on CBD to help with sleep issues and chronic pain. I am honored to share my story and help enhance the lives of everyone who walks through Kerwell’s door.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
After hemp changed both my family’s and my life, I decided to get into the industry when the farm bill passed in 2018. The stigma behind hemp at that time was that it was illegal and would only deliver psychoactive results. It was very important to educate on the medicinal values of the hemp plant, the endocannabinoid system, and the federal laws that made it legal.
Five years later it’s not a scary buzzword anymore and many people are open to learning about the powerful, natural plant that delivers many different remedies to all households. Certain products are not certified, have artificial ingredients, can be synthetic and do not hold high standards. It’s vital to do research and review COAs on products and ensure they are third-party lab tested and hold the utmost integrity and standards. I am grateful to have opened a store that provides education first and trusted, superior CBD and wellness products that deliver safe and effective results for our customers.

The Founder of Kerwell, Kerry Aiyash, started the brand and brick-and-mortar stores four years ago. She opened three locations in the Chicago suburbs. I opened the first Ohio location this past July. I specialize in offering a safe and welcoming environment that emphasizes the consumer’s understanding of the endocannabinoid system, what terpenes are, what various cannabinoids are and how they impact and benefit one’s body. We offer a wide variety of full-spectrum and broad-spectrum products from topicals, tinctures, gummies, pet, beauty, and baths.
Every product has been vetted and carefully curated specifically to tailor to anyone’s needs. The Kerwell product line is organic and created by a team of experts with 60 years in pharmacology, cannabis, and biology. Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
Great question! There are many health providers and cannabis experts that team up together to provide the best products and education.
I love attending health and cannabis expos to further my education and product knowledge/offerings. This has also allowed me to connect and network with the best of the best in the industry. It’s important to stay connected with like-minded people in the industry who place importance and emphasis on the integrity of the plant and formulations.
