Hi Tyla, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Growing up, I struggled with insecurities about my appearance. As I got older, I made the decision to turn that pain into purpose. As a plus-size model, I’ve faced countless rejections, but every ‘no’ motivated me to keep going until I earned my first ‘yes.’ Those experiences shaped my resilience and gave me a deeper understanding of the importance of representation. Today, I use my platform to encourage women who have faced similar struggles to embrace their confidence and recognize their worth. For me, modeling is more than taking photos—it’s a form of self-expression that celebrates authenticity and reminds people that beauty exists in every shape, size, and story.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
I’ve learned that no road to success is ever smooth. There will always be obstacles, setbacks, and moments where you question whether you should keep going. In modeling, I’ve heard ‘no’ far more times than I’ve heard ‘yes,’ but I chose not to see rejection as failure. Instead, I viewed every rejection as redirection and an opportunity to grow. Each ‘no’ challenged me to become more confident, improve my craft, and believe in myself even when others didn’t. That perseverance is what eventually led to opportunities that were meant for me. The fight is absolutely worth the finish line because the journey builds your character just as much as the destination. Today, I can look back and appreciate every setback because it shaped the resilience, confidence, and purpose I carry with me now.

We’ve been impressed with Hellen wells modeling agency , but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Being the only plus-size model representing my agency is one of my proudest accomplishments. It represents not only how far I’ve come personally, but also the progress being made toward greater diversity and representation in the industry. I use my creativity to tell stories through photography, allowing each shoot to express confidence, emotion, and authenticity. Beyond modeling, I’ve built my platform around fashion, lifestyle, and content creation, using my voice to inspire others to embrace who they are. I’m also excited to expand into the film industry, where I hope to continue telling meaningful stories and showing that talent and beauty come in every shape and size. My goal is to create opportunities not only for myself, but to help pave the way for others who deserve to see themselves represented as well.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is to be okay with rejection. Rejection isn’t a reflection of your worth—it’s a part of growth. Every opportunity isn’t meant for you, and that’s okay because the right ones will align with your purpose. Once I stopped taking rejection personally, I was able to move forward with more confidence, resilience, and determination. Instead of letting a ‘no’ discourage me, I use it as motivation to keep improving and showing up. I’ve learned that success isn’t about avoiding rejection—it’s about refusing to let it stop you.
