Inspiring Conversations with Patty Gibson of The Artistry of You

Today we’d like to introduce you to Patty Gibson.

Hi Patty, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
We are a full-service image consulting firm that specializes in helping busy, aspiring women to look and feel their best. My company name, The ARTISTRY of You, comes from my belief that every woman has unique beauty and style, and my goal is to bring out her beauty so she can SHINE.
I’m a wife, mom, business owner, and a lover of fashion who has always had a passion to help people be their best. I understand what it is like to juggle multiple roles, spin all the plates, work to achieve your goals, and all the while, strive to look your best.
Did I always have the gift of style? Honestly…no! As a young girl, I was the prototypical tomboy. The oldest of eight, I wore ripped overalls to climb trees and escape my younger siblings. By high school, that all changed. My girlish curves caught up with me, and I started to realize that it’s not always easy to dress a woman’s figure. I noticed that things like pleated skirts—like my Catholic school uniform—were the enemy of women with curvy hips, but by simply changing the skirt’s style, I could look more balanced. That simple awareness was the start of an attitude that would lead me to my image consulting career of helping other women look their best.
My desire to work in the Fashion Industry took me from Buffalo to New York City, where I received a Fashion Buying degree from the Fashion Institute of Technology (F.I.T.) After four years in the joint business/fashion program, I earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and an associate degree in fashion buying. As good-paying fashion jobs were not readily available in Buffalo (surprise surprise!), I worked in corporate America in sales and marketing. I value my years in sales and marketing as it gave me the experience of working in teams and crafting brands for myself and my clients. I was then blessed to be able to raise my children while training to become an image consultant, build an online direct sales business, and form my company, The Artistry of You, LLC.
While I have been studying image consulting for over 25 years, I formally founded The Artistry of You LLC in 2011. Over the years I have put hundreds of hours into professional development to become a Certified Image Consultant. I am a lifelong learner who has read more than 150 books on leadership, entrepreneurship, personality, communication, and other business topics. I love to share what I have learned about combining image and business with corporate gatherings, private groups, and individual clients. While I no longer climb trees (LOL), I still love to be active outdoors with friends and family.
Today, after 2 decades of helping busy, aspiring women express their authentic self through their image, I can honestly say I still love what I do. I have a passion to help women develop a consistent brand that conveys their personality, purpose, and talents, and a streamlined and targeted wardrobe that reduces the time and stress of getting ready every morning and helps them look and feel great every day. I do this through a thorough examination of who they are, what their needs are, and what needs to change. My process includes a professional color analysis, silhouette strategy, personal styling, and custom capsule wardrobe design. I create visual alignment for women navigating entrepreneurship, leadership, reinvention, and new seasons of life.
My work is built on one belief: when a woman understands who she is, everything she wears should support that truth.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think being an entrepreneur is always exciting, but it does come with its challenges. For many years, I didn’t understand the value of my services, charged way too little, and barely got by financially. I was also challenged with the many “hats” I had to wear in addition to being a great image consultant. I didn’t enjoy the accounting, sales, and technology “hats” that always seemed to elude me….especially the technology of websites, social media, etc. I felt I needed to learn everything and keep up with it… and I will tell you, that is exhausting!. Thankfully, I learned that it’s much better to stay in my lane with my creative gifts while hiring others to do the parts of my business that I did not enjoy or excel at. This is great advice for anyone starting any type of business! Even if it seems like you can’t afford to hire someone to do the tasks you don’t like (or are not an expert at), hire someone better at it than you:) Then you can focus on what you do best and really move forward.

We’ve been impressed with The Artistry of You, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
The Artistry of You was founded by Patty Gibson, a certified image consultant and personal stylist. For over 20 years, I have been helping women create a wardrobe that showcases their authentic selves. I help women align their outward image with their inner confidence, lifestyle, purpose, and design, so style feels effortless, intentional, and true.
Through color analysis, silhouette strategy, personal styling, and custom capsule wardrobe design, I create visual alignment for women navigating entrepreneurship, leadership, reinvention, and new seasons of life.
I believe I stand out from most personal stylists because I truly get to know my clients on a deeper level, so that their image and wardrobe not only feel like an extension of themselves, but also showcase who they are and where they want to go in life. I also specialize in professional color analysis with over 25 years of experience and some of the best tools in the industry, like the Absolute Color System, with 18 personalized palettes. My color and styling services are for women of all skin tones and sizes, from petite to plus size, and I style each individual according to her needs, goals, budget, and body architecture. I am also known for specializing in helping women in midlife navigate the changes that come in their bodies, career, business, or lifestyles. Many times these women were stepping into more… building businesses, becoming leaders, reinventing themselves, becoming more visible (or feeling invisible), navigating lifestyle shifts, and yet quietly wondering why they no longer felt confident in what they wore. That was my aha moment.

I realized this wasn’t just about clothes. It was about helping women align their outward image with the woman they have become.
I am most proud of the testimonials I have received from my clients about how I have changed their lives for the better, increased their confidence in themselves, and made them more apt to pursue their dreams and goals. In fact, I get a text or an email from a past or current client every week with a thank-you…it is truly wonderful to impact lives this way. I would like the readers to know that they can start with a 15-minute complimentary discovery call with me, or my Styled for Purpose or Defined by Design package. These are both foundational color and personal styling packages.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
I want to make a difference in this world by helping women gain the confidence in themselves to achieve everything they were placed on this earth for.
