Inspiring Conversations with Off The Tongue Podcast Network

Today we’d like to introduce you to Off The Tongue Podcast Network. Them and their team share their story with us below:

The Off the Tongue Podcast Network is collaborative effort created by four local Ohio podcasts; The Average AF Podcast, The Greener Grass Podcast, Teach a Dummy Podcast, and Skate Mansfield. Currently, the biggest active podcast network in Ohio, Off the Tongue strives to promote podcasts while growing our own audiences organically. The Founding Four shows started as individual podcasts and came together through the podcast community, realizing there was an opportunity to cast a wider net by joining forces. 

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
As with any creative process involving multiple people, we had a few differences of opinions. That being said, our biggest obstacle as we began this journey was really just logistics. The hosts of the four podcasts (The Average AF Podcast, The Greener Grass Podcast, Teach a Dummy Podcast, and Skate Mansfield), while all local to Ohio are hardly neighbors. Coupled wIth different working schedules, most of our brainstorming sessions took place in lengthy group chats that often saw delays in responses. Our main obstacle was really just getting started, but since then, it’s been smooth sailing. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about The Off The Tongue Podcast Network?
Ohio, central Ohio, specifically is one the most rapidly developing major metropolitan areas. However, there was a lack of support for podcasts. Enter, The Off the Tongue Podcast Network, or as we like to call ourselves, The OTT. As separate podcast shows we realized a need for localized group representation. Podcast networks have well-documented success in the growth of not only brand recognition but also increased audience size. We are really proud to be the biggest podcast network in Ohio. We’ve already seen the fruits of our labors, with podcasts on our network reporting 404% increases in social media engagement and a spike in download and streaming numbers of episodes on release day. As we continue to succeed our hope is that other podcasts will join our network and experience the camaraderie of the podcast family while growing their business as well. 

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Podcasting has the unique benefit of having seen a surge in popularity due to Covid-19. As millions of Americans felt the loneliness of quarantine, they turned to podcasts to hear a friendly voice. While there is no end to Covid at this time, as we have begun to learn how to navigate life in a pandemic, we were able to create this network.
