Hi Melissa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
Building a Career on Community — Founded in 2023, New Horizons Staffing was built upon decades of expertise. The early experience of business began back in high school, attending a business education course, sparking something deeper. This led to encompassing a degree in business and embarking my career journey, from managing multiple offices, leadership in regional recruitment, and extensive training in areas such as graphic design and marketing. Each role has contributed to me finding my true passion.
Starting New Horizons Staffing was more than a business decision — it was a visionary drive. I have always been passionate about assisting others; what better place to start than with the backbone of our community—small local businesses. The impact of supporting small businesses extends far beyond the immediate economic benefits, from creating local jobs, investment in your neighborhood by purchasing local products/services, as well as strengthening local ties and building relationships.
As a business owner, I am committed to delivering personalized business solutions that are meaningful and affordable, while offering the utmost support unique to each individual’s needs. It has been a true privilege to explore all that our community provides while cultivating enduring relationships with my clients. At New Horizons Staffing, we are changing people, processes and perceptions.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like many business owners, I put myself and my future in the hands of God. As anticipated, periods of self-doubt, financial challenges, and the strain of managing responsibilities as a Fiancé and mother, alongside entrepreneurship simultaneously we’re all hurdles along the way. Holding a roadmap to success while uncertain of the path forward — required were many cups of coffee, multitasking, gentle reminders of self-determination, and embracing hugs from Fiancé and children to got me through.
With limited resources and exposure, one of the greatest challenges in the early stages was establishing connections. Effective client communication, gaining experience, and building trust — this requires strong determination, commitment and authenticity. Reflecting on the past, I am deeply grateful for every client who placed their trust in New Horizons Staffing and believed in my abilities.
Each challenge has contributed to shaping me into the business owner I am today—authentic, resilient, self-assured, and optimistic about the future.

The most rewarding aspect of engaging with a new business is discovering their story. This has inspired me to adopt a distinctive approach, offering unique service options tailored to each brand, location, and budget, with a commitment of support to all.
Do you have any advice for those just starting out?
Embarking on something new can daunting—facing the unknown, stepping out of your comfort zone and questioning whether you are making the right decisions. However, support surrounds you; networking is key! Through connecting with others, I encountered remarkable individuals, including fellow business owners and mentors, who have guided and encouraged me every step of the way.
From walking into a room full of unfamiliar faces, introducing yourself and presenting what your business provides, to stepping into long-lasting supportive friendships — networking is essential. I am forever grateful for the tremendous support and referrals they have all given me, for believing in my aspirations and being integral part of this journey. You are not alone.
