Today we’d like to introduce you to Mary Beth Schrudder.
Hi Mary Beth, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
How did I decide to become a Transformational Life Coach? Long story short is that I made many mistakes in life! I found my way out of each of them on my own after many years of failures, self-help, personal development books, and courses… the hard way! I never reached out for help, and I regret that because I wasted a lot of years struggling to figure it all out myself. I was stubborn. So, I decided to become a guide for people who are possibly going through similar struggles that I experienced. Divorce, being a single-parent, career path challenges, battles with addiction (food, alcohol, relationships), self-worth, and even health issues.
After decades of alcohol addiction, and living with the bad decisions that come along with it, I finally said. “Enough is enough!” It was quite a long process; not as easy as I am making it sound here on paper. I felt called to leave the corporate environment and took steps to get the education required to become a Life Coach. I now have six different coaching certifications, above and beyond my college degrees. It is not required by any means – I simply love my career and everything about it, so continuing my education never feels like work. Coaching others is my passion.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road has been anything but smooth. Very rocky. But when I look back I am extremely thankful for the struggles and challenges that I faced. I do not think we learn as much when everything falls perfectly into place. I learned the virtues of patience and resilience. I truly believe that the only difference between successful people and others is that the accomplished people never gave up! It is important to rest. Balance in life is essential. Take breaks, have fun along the way, but never quit reaching for your goals. When you feel passionate about something, go after it. You are enthusiastic about specific pursuits for a reason! Listen to that calling.
We’ve been impressed with Day One Life Coaching, LLC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Life Coaches act as partners, helping clients to recognize their own abilities to find the right direction, and to address challenges along the way. Coaching clients are people with normal challenges and unfulfilled dreams. I help people break out of their comfort zones by identifying their limiting beliefs and smashing them.
My favorite subject to teach is The Law of Attraction. Most people have heard of this Universal Law, but have been misinformed because there are many misconceptions and fallacies regarding the LOA.
The Law of Attraction is in effect whether we are aware of it or not, it just “IS”. This Universal Law will affect your life by default, OR you can intentionally manifest your desires. I teach my clients practical skills that they begin to apply to their daily life immediately. Life is much easier when you become a deliberate creator. For clients who are not open to these techniques, I simply use different terminology and mindset practices which are truly transformational.
I have used these techniques in my own life, so I am living proof that anyone can be successful when they apply this knowledge. My level of commitment and intense passion for helping others is what sets me apart from other coaches.
Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
My advice for others is to see failures as opportunities! Did you really fail, or did you actually get redirected to a better, more efficient path along your journey? Reframe failures and keep going. Never compare your beginning to someone else’s middle or end! Stay focused on your own progress because comparison will truly bring you down. The only person you should be comparing yourself with is an older version of yourself. Allow stepping stones – we are not meant to be an overnight success. Have fun along the way!
