Today we’d like to introduce you to Loren Snow.
Hi Loren, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Since a kid I’ve always been infatuated with the kitchen, whether that’s baking, prepping, or disappearing when it’s time to clean… Ha! What turned into a new hobby picked up over quarantine has quickly become a weekend ritual for those close to me. The bars were closed and we were limited to options of what to do on the weekend. So, instead of going out we would pool together money and I would cook for everyone and make dessert. One day I had leftover Oreos and peanut butter chips and I asked my friend if he’s think it’ll be good in a cookie… the rest is history!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road definitely has had its up and downs, but once I was able to find a consistent rhythm and process of operating, I truly began to enjoy the small bumps as signs of greater things to come. For me, it was developing methods to become most productive in the kitchen and the process of establishing the necessary credentials to become fully operational. I am very grateful to have those close to me that are always willing to help and offer advice.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
The inspiration for “For The Love Of Dough” directly derives from 90’s inspired music and culture. Music is something that has always been a major part of my life and at many times provided the necessary inspiration to complete the creativity spark for the times where I find myself stagnant. The name itself is inspired by a Biggie Smalls and Jay-Z song called “I love the dough” paying homage to two of the greatest mc’s. We are most known for our “Big Poppa” cookies, and each flavor we nickname after one of our favorite 90’s songs or artist that we believe carries the culture forward. Whether it’s “Red Velvet Revival” which pays homage to the late great Mac Miller or “Smells Like Teen Spirit” Martian cookie honoring one of my favorite bands Nirvana, you will be sure to find a flavor that you’ll love. The most important thing that sets us apart from the other brands is that we specialize in ORIGINAL and creative recipe creations and bake each cookie to achieve the perfect “crunch bite, soft chew” experience. I am most proud of the fact that I know that each Big Poppa contains only the highest quality of ingredients, our cookies our homemade with love, and we value our fans’ feedback more than anything. We also ship to all 50 states and ensure that each cookie remains fresh by vacuum sealing each order. Be sure to check us out during this year’s markets here in Columbus, Ohio and you can also find us on our website ftlodcookies.com, Doordash, Instagram: for.the.love.of.dough
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
I see the food industry in Columbus continuing to excel at the extremely rapid pace that it is now. I love the fact that over the last few years there’s been so many local business owners starting their own organization and I truly believe that we have the one of the best food scenes in the country.
