Hi Linda, I’m excited to share the inspiring journey of our guest today. Linda, could you start by introducing yourself and sharing the transformative experiences that led you to where you are today?
Many years ago, I worked in a traditional Western medical center, but when I became ill, Western medicine made me even sicker. I was frustrated and angry that the medical care I had supported was not able to provide relief. I discovered Reiki and natural therapies, which soon allowed me to regain my health. Determined to discover more, I learned Reiki and other natural therapies, started a business and then expanded to create a center in Columbus, Ohio. The Reiki Center is the region’s oldest and largest natural wellness facility. The focus is on providing services, professional development classes, and programs for pets.
Alright, let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what challenges have you had to overcome?
The journey to promote natural wellness has not been without its challenges.
We’ve been captivated by The Reiki Center, but for those who are new to our conversation, could you elaborate on the unique services you offer and what makes The Reiki Center stand out from the rest?
When I started the company, Reiki was the only technique I knew. If I had known about the company’s rapid expansion, I would have created a company name that was more inclusive and represented all of our services. Our center is one of the few in the country that teaches Reiki (a Japanese technique for pain and stress reduction) originally, i.e., as a spiritual development modality. Most countries teach it through the modified Western or Modern method, eliminating most or all of the technique’s spiritual teachings. Spirituality refers to finding meaning and purpose. The hardest part was to stay true to my belief that the original premise of Reiki is what is most important to the teaching. It would have been far easier to adopt the modern version., but that would have been far less rewarding.
Risk-taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
The biggest risk was moving into a two-story building in anticipation of future growth. In the beginning, the costs far outweighed the rewards.
