Inspiring Conversations with Lauren Loboda of Life Coach Mama

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lauren Loboda.

Hi Lauren, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today.
In the beginning of 2020, I heard about the term life coaching. As I listened to my favorite podcast, the host was describing this new idea to me. She is an author and speaker and had taught me so much through her podcast. I wasn’t quite sure what it was, but I was very interested. She was ending her current podcast for moms to start a life coaching podcast as long as a life coaching business. Right away, I signed up for her group coaching course. After learning just a few mindset tools those first few weeks, I knew this was for me. I was learning skills no one had ever taught me. My thoughts and emotions were changing. Months went by, and my husband and kids told me that they could see a difference in me. They told me that I was happier, less stressed, yelled at them less, and followed through more. Personally, I felt like I could handle my depression. Much better. For over a decade, I had thought that I just had to learn to live with depression. I had a mild case, but still, it was always lurking in the back, in situations, in my mind, and in my heart. It affected relationships, my physical health, and my worldview. But after learning how to manage my mind, manage stress, think differently, and challenge my thoughts, I was able to lessen my depression. Just like some vitamin D can boost your mood immune system and exercise increases endorphins, life coaching became another tool in my tool belt. But unlike anything else, I had ever tried before. It seriously helped me 10 times as much as anything else.

I continued the group coaching program for 1 1/2, and during that time I decided to become a coach. I couldn’t keep this great information to myself. It was so transformative that I knew I needed to share it. I signed up for training through Cleveland State University and received my certificate in Coaching in July of 2021. Since then, I have spoken to moms’ groups, churches, and schools. I’ve started a podcast called, Got Your Hands Full (on Apple podcasts and on Spotify.) I’ve written a book entitled, Have Another Kid Without Losing It, available on Amazon. My main job, however, is working with women one-on-one via Zoom. We meet for 12 sessions and work together on mindset management, stress management, handling depression and anxiety, self-confidence and self-worth, forgiveness, making plans, and making decisions. In addition to my business, I also have a coaching charity where I offer these tools for free. In July of 2022, a team of 7 other certified life coaches and 2 licensed counselors started a nonprofit called Crisis Pregnancy Support. We meet on Zoom every Tuesday from 7-8 pm. A different coach or counselor presents a topic to a group of moms in crisis pregnancies. We offer our services for free, and we are happy to volunteer our time. We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
There are challenges in everything. Starting a business and a charity, both have their struggles. I had to learn how to file for an LLC, make a website, market and advertise, and more. I had a lot of help along the way from mentors and good friends. In the Covid and Post Covid world, it has been tricky to make connections, meet clients and find public gatherings and settings to present my work. However, the online community grew during Covid, and I was able to find a good amount of clients online who wanted to meet via Zoom. Now that people are getting together in person again, I am starting to get more bookings for public events.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Life Coaching can be applied to any area of life. A coach uses mindset tools to help a client examine his or her thinking and how those thoughts are creating results. More specifically, I tend to work with moms who want a faith-based coach. As a Catholic, I can speak to Catholic culture as well as the general Christian culture. Additionally, I have 8 kids, 1 child who was adopted, and in that group is a set of twins. Sometimes moms with big families or moms who are pregnant contact me. I am happy to help any woman who wants to change and challenge her thoughts to change her emotions and change her actions. I just want as many women as possible to know this powerful tool and for them to have happier lives.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I agree with Mother Teresa who said, “The Lord doesn’t ask us to be successful, just faithful.” To me, success isn’t a priority. That is a relative term. And sometimes, we don’t know why we aren’t “successful,” but one day, it will be revealed to us. In the end, the more important question is, were we faithful to what we were called to do and to the people in our lives? Success, in my opinion, is often out of our control. Faithfulness is not.
