Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacole Suddeth
Hi LaCole , we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started my journey 2015 I just had my son and no one was delivering breakfast food so I posted breakfast on Facebook and asked people would they like breakfast delivered to them I got over 20 orders so I started doing breakfast on the weekends delivering it to people so the next week I came up with the name Breakfast in bed by LaCole because people were laying in bed ordering breakfast,Then in 2020 I finally open up in a Ghost kitchen called Akron food works that was great but I grew from that extremely fast I then did a shared kitchen with a restaurant downtown Akron I was there a little over a year then we closed, I then went homeless after that for 6mths me and my boys stayed with relatives and then at extended stay until God blessed us with a house got the house and 4mths later my sister in law reached out to me and told me to come look at a place for rent I said ok I went had no idea it was the old corner store I walked in it and it was a mess but I seen my whole vision and the owners helped me make it just that! I opened up last April and in 2mths it will be a year for me to have my own restaurant cafe.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No it’s has not been I had the building for a whole year and a few months I had to replace fire hood suspension had to wait for permits,it went from a store front to a restaurant I had to get a architect that took time I reached out to so many people to do a new floor plan then, had to wait for the permits then had to have an fire inspection come and approve me after that the city, then county approval and health department approval and licensed it was most definitely a test for patience and understanding to have something successful you must go through all the important things to be great!
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Breakfast in bed by LaCole ?
It is a place where you can come eat great soulful breakfast I cook my omelette with collard greens instead of spinach and people love it, We make French toast biscuits, fish and grits, Shrimp and grits etc I try to have the environment feel like your at home it’s open up so you can watch me as I prepare your meal and also talk to me tell me about your day whatever’s on your mind or some people get to talking and start to networking together I try to keep a nice vibe for every walk of life
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My Mother Sharon Wilson has prayed me through everything I went through,My sister cousin Yvette has helped me with so much I can’t even explain she is the best motivation person in my life along with My 3 boys I hope they see all the things I went through and learn from them I can’t leave out a special person Justin that enter my life when I gave up on my dreams and he love me through them and let me know I got this and to never give up on my dreams oh and yes my brothers played a great part especially my little brother Rick he goes above and beyond to get me everything I need throughout the day!
