Today we’d like to introduce you to Lacia Rutherford.
Hi Lacia, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Between the Bun is a family owned business who are lifelong residents of the city. The dream has always been to open a business in their hometown. John and Lacia have been together for over 20 years and have two beautiful children, Aleigha (18) and John III (10). John and Lacia are true entrepreneurs who have dabbled in remodeling homes for resale, a clothing store, a bar, and a pizza shop. Between the Bun was built from the ground up. John did all the construction of the bar, kitchen, the restrooms, the event room, and so much more.
Between the Bun is a family fun restaurant where families can come and unwind, eat a great burger, play a game of pool, tic tac toe, Jenga, or connect four. Their Bacon Habanero Jam Burger won Best Burger of Lorain County. Between the Bun is big on giving back to the community Every year around their anniversary they host a fundraiser to pay off school lunch debts. They are sponsored a lot of sports teams and events held by the community. We are all about giving back. We look forward to being here for the long hall and expanding as much as possible.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Overall everything has ran pretty smooth thanks to our wonderful staff and John for making everything so easy to navigate.

Between the Bun is a family restaurant that gives back to the community. We have an affordable party room to rent for all types of events. We brand our burger buns which everyone thinks is pretty cool it’s great for marketing. We specialize in burgers but we have some néw items coming soon.
Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My husband John deserves all the credit. He turned our vision into a reality and made everything so easy so it runs smoothly. Also my staff for sticking by us. Most of our staff have been employed with us since the beginning.
