Inspiring Conversations with Kristen Kane of Kristen Kane Events

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Kane.

Kristen, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My career in the events industry began in 2007 when I accepted an assistant manager position at a local wedding and event venue. I quickly realized how much I enjoyed the energy of events and the satisfaction of seeing all the details come together for important milestones in people’s lives. Over the years, I worked at a few different venues and eventually took on a banquet manager role, which I held for more than nine years. That position gave me a strong foundation in operations, logistics, and customer service—skills that are essential in this field.

Eventually, I stepped away from that role to manage events at my family’s winery. I wasn’t sure what was next, but once word got out that I was no longer at the banquet hall, I started getting messages from past clients asking if I’d help with their upcoming events. One inquiry turned into another, and soon I was getting referred to their friends, coworkers, and family members. The demand kept building and what began as a few side projects quickly grew into something more—and that’s how Kristen Kane Events came to life.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
There have been a few minor bumps along the way, but I was fortunate to come into business ownership with a lot of hands-on experience. In my previous role, I wasn’t just managing events. I was also handling the logistics, contracts, client communication, staffing, vendor relationships—you name it. So when I launched Kristen Kane Events, I already had a solid understanding of what it takes to run events and run a business.

That said, stepping out on my own still came with its challenges. Building a brand from the ground up, setting boundaries, and figuring out how to scale the business have been a learning process. There have been moments of uncertainty, but also a lot of rewarding milestones along the way.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?

We manage a wide range of events—corporate gatherings, nonprofit fundraisers, private celebrations, and weddings. Whether we’re overseeing a community festival or a black-tie gala, our focus is always on the details that make an event feel seamless and meaningful.

What sets us apart is the level of experience we bring to the table. I have worked in the event industry for nearly two decades, so I approach every event with a deep understanding of what it takes to keep things running smoothly behind the scenes. We’re not just checking boxes—we’re coordinating timelines, supporting vendors, solving problems before they start, and making sure our clients feel confident from beginning to end.

The heart of Kristen Kane Events is our team. I’m incredibly proud of the people who stand beside me. They’re professional, prepared, and truly care about every event we take on. They know when to step in, when to stay behind the scenes, and how to work together to make the day feel effortless for our clients. Our goal is always the same: deliver a well-organized, polished experience that allows our clients to be present, enjoy the moment, and know everything is handled.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
What I like best about Pittsburgh is how supportive and connected the community is. It’s a city where relationships matter, and that’s made a big difference in the growth of my business. The event industry here is full of talented, hardworking professionals who are genuinely collaborative—and that kind of environment makes it easier to do great work for clients. I also appreciate that Pittsburgh offers such a variety of event settings, from historic landmarks to modern venues, which allows for a lot of creativity no matter the type of event we’re working on. If there’s something not to love, I haven’t found it yet.
