Today we’d like to introduce you to Joshua Elchert
Hi Joshua, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for sharing your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers.
I started working at my father-in-law’s pizza shop when I was 15. I worked there for 10 years, and then decided to open my own in Findlay. God has blessed me and my business beyond measure.
It wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been relatively smooth so far?
There have been some struggles. Covid was super exciting; the significant ’employee shortage” was difficult, but we overcame a few issues. The first several years were hard, putting in all the hours myself, as most small business owners do.
We’ve been impressed with Heavenly Pizza, but for folks who might need to be more familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart?
Heavenly Pizza has been around for 43 years in Tiffin (my father-in-law’s shop) and 14 years in Findlay. We wear our faith on our sleeve; it is how we live our lives. We are a local pizza shop starting to spread our wings into the franchise world. We will likely open our first franchise later this year. We are known for 2 things and 3 things. 1st is our sweet sauce; people love the sauce, and 2nd is our jumbo pizza; although a few other shops have started to make this size pizza, we do it better and more consistently, making it the cheapest price point for customers. Lastly, everyone loves our signature house dressing, and we have a few local stores where you can purchase it. The thing that sets us apart is also the thing I am most proud of brand-wise. We are so ingrained in the community that we do more and give back to the police, firefighters, and EMS, including schools, hospitals, and public service employees. Our mission is to be the most impactful business in our community by showing God’s love to our employees, customers, and community.
