Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Griffith.
Hi Jenna, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start, maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers.
Since I was a young girl, I have always had a creative spark in everything I’ve done. In school, hands-on is how I learned best, and finding a creative outlet was my way of life, whether it was cooking, sewing, scrapbooking, etc.
Fast forward to 2015 after I had my middle son, I left my job for a while so I could stay home with him. A few months after giving birth, I started designing invitations for weddings, birthdays, and other events until I went back to work almost 2 years later. I continue to design, but gaining knowledge in stationery design truly has been the base to what I do now. It’s helped me so much with marketing and building up my own brand identity.
In February of 2021, I was working as an office manager for a local esthetician in Marietta but felt I needed to create something hands-on. Bath bombs and other bath and body products have always had my interest, so I decided this route may be for me. I did a ton of research and began practicing my craft for the next few months. Hello Goodbye Bath Treats LLC was established in April of 2021, and I quit my job that August to run my business full-time.
Having the ability to work at my own pace and stay home with my boys has been incredible. I’ve given myself the opportunity to be there for them, my husband and have the freedom to enjoy life on my time.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s had many challenges, trials, and errors underneath the happiness and joy my creations give me, especially the first year. I started with zero knowledge of the craft (science and chemistry are key in formulating, and it’s been a lot to learn) and running a business, so everything I have built for myself, I had to research and learn extensively – which I continue to do today.
I would say now the road is much smoother than it was in the beginning. I feel more bold and confident than before, which is something I really struggled with. I still absolutely struggle with some social anxiety when I do craft and vendor fairs, but I’m working on that!
I also am raising an infant (Miles will be a year old this April!), so sticking to a schedule and routine that works for both of us is difficult, but it’s bittersweet to know this will get easier to achieve as he gets older. My two older boys like to help with their baby brother, which makes things better!
This ride will always seem more like a rollercoaster than a road I think, there are always ups and downs, but it’s thrilling, and when it’s good, it’s amazing! The bath and body industry is always changing and evolving, so I always have to be on my toes and continuously learn new things.
As you know, we’re big fans of Hello Goodbye Bath Treats LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about the brand?
Hello Goodbye Bath Treats is committed to using top-quality ingredients for creating fun and unique bath and body products.
We strive to be as transparent as possible in our ingredients with understanding of them because it’s important to know what you are buying for yourself or those who may have specific allergies or sensitivities.
We also use the most gentle ingredients possible for our amazing products because both your safety and getting the best benefits is our top priority, Fragrances are carefully picked from top trusted suppliers, and we only use FDA batch-certified colorants and/or natural colorants.
You will find most of our products to contain shea butter, cocoa butter, kaolin clay, varieties (coconut, goat, non-fat) of milk, vitamin E, and oils such as apricot kernel, sunflower, coconut, sweet almond, and more!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
Keep track of everything! EVERYTHING! HAHA! I did not do this in the very beginning when I was learning. I overspent because I didn’t know exactly what I was doing or what I would be officially using. I have everything documented and kept track of now, down to the pennies and grams of my ingredients.
I do still have a habit of trying to do too much at one time because of my need to always want to create. This can make things difficult with not being able to keep up with demand of products, so I try really hard to keep focus on my current stock!
