Inspiring Conversations with Erin Rush of SelfCare.Concierge

Today we’d like to introduce you to Erin Rush

Hi Erin , so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Starting my first salon space in 2011, designed to support both independent and newly emerging talent, I have always been drawn to the idea of assisting busy individuals in making simple self-care elevated, causal, and consistent. Over the years as a Licensed Esthetician and Nail Artist, I’ve honed my skills specializing in advanced Facials, Skincare, a variety of Eyebrow solutions, and long lasting Gel Nails – all with a focus on providing safe, health oriented services that caters to all skin tones and types. My goal has always been to create and Fitzpatrick-friendly space where clients can trust they will receive a concierge level of personalized care in a calm, welcoming environment that respects their busy schedules.
Today this vision has evolved into two distinct brands. SelfCare.Concierge, I offer curated salon & spa services as well as offering mentorship, education, and professional salon consulting to support other licensed individuals and groups to design a sustainable careers in the salon industry. As Co-Owners of Sage & Soul Studios, Courtney of No.18 Salon and I have developed an open-air, collaborative salon space offering flexible short- and long-term rentals for licensed salon and spa professionals. Our studio is thoughtfully designed to inspire and support fellow artists as they build lasting client relationships and thrive in a cohesive, community-oriented environment.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The road has definitely had its bumps! Building a solo salon business requires wearing so many hats—you’re the technician, the scheduler, the marketer, and the client service team all in one. Finding that balance between delivering a high-quality service experience and managing the backend operations has been a constant learning process. One of the biggest challenges is creating reliable systems that make the business run smoothly, from booking to inventory to client follow-ups, without it taking away from the time I spend with clients or my family. Another challenge has been learning to grow without sacrificing the personalized experience that clients expect.

As a Fitzpatrick-friendly salon, for example, I’ve invested a lot of time in training and product knowledge to ensure I can serve clients of all skin types and backgrounds effectively. It’s important to me that every client feels seen and valued, which requires a continual commitment to education and keeping up with the latest in skincare and beauty. While the journey hasn’t always been easy, each challenge has ultimately helped me create a more streamlined, intentional approach to my work. It’s taught me to stay adaptable and open to change, which has made a huge difference in my ability to grow and still deliver the quality of care I’m passionate about.

As you know, we’re big fans of SelfCare.Concierge . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
I’m not just here to offer a service—I’m here to truly see and understand each client as the unique individual they are. Building meaningful relationships is at the heart of what I do because I believe self-care isn’t one-size-fits-all. I understand that each skin type, tone, and personal style has unique needs and requires different care and color choices that complement each individual. By taking the time to learn about my clients’ lifestyles, preferences, and personal needs, I’m able to create customized self-care routines that flow seamlessly into their lives and feel natural.

I’m also dedicated to sharing this passion with other licensed professionals because I know firsthand how valuable practical education is in our industry. My goal is to provide meaningful insights and hands-on skills that empower salon professionals to elevate their client experience. It’s incredibly rewarding to help others navigate the salon and spa world with confidence, building the skills and systems that lead to lasting success.

What does success mean to you?
I define success as creating a lasting impact—whether that’s helping a client feel confident and comfortable in their skin or supporting another professional in building their career. Success, to me, is about consistency and connection. It’s knowing that clients trust me not just for one appointment, but as part of their long-term self-care routine. When someone tells me their skin has never felt better or that their appointments are a highlight of their month, I feel successful because I know I’m adding real value to their lives.

For Sage and Soul Studios, success means fostering a space where other salon professionals feel supported and inspired. If I can create an environment where artists can grow their own businesses while feeling part of a community, then I know I’m fulfilling my purpose.
