Today we’d like to introduce you to Drezzy Norris.
Drezzy, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
My name is Drezzy, also known as “Drezzy the Loctician“ born & raised in Cleveland Ohio!
Grew up wishing & hoping to be in the WNBA, become a motivational artist & speaker but God had others plans for me. I started off doing locs when my own Loc journey first started back in 2015. At first, it was a side hustle, something to keep me busy & something I did for a few friends & family members that were around me until 2018 I started up my business page then began to promote my work. At that time, I knew hair was it for me so I gave up on my sports & art career. The more clients I gained the more I started to believe in myself to take things to a different level, I worked a 3rd shift job & did locs during the day. Yes, it was a lot of work & time management but it’s like locs became a part of my everyday life, when I’m doing hair nothing else matters in that moment it’s just me, my work & my client. November 2019, I had a wake-up call & told myself hair was the only way I was gonna get where I wanted to be in life. November 2020, I took a risk & quit my job unexpectedly… not knowing what the next step was, I applied to so many jobs & not one job called me back so all I had left to call back on was my Loc business. October 2020, I moved into my first salon suite!!! It’s like it was a start to my new life, my new journey. I wasn’t sure what to expect or how to feel but it’s like all my other problems went away, I gained a new way to express myself & I found a way to change lives! November 2021, I threw myself a celebration party… it was more of a celebration for all the obstacles I had to face & all the people I had to leave behind that didn’t believe in me, it was also a celebration for my clients! All 723 of my clients are the reason I am here in this CEO position today; without them, I wouldn’t be chasing my dreams. My goal is to own my own shop & give people the opportunity & support that I didn’t have when I first started. I hope I continue to motivate those who are afraid to chase their dream.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Definitely was not a smooth road, Iost & gain so many things/ people in the process but I live with no regrets. The biggest challenge I had to face was leaving the past behind with no remorse. Grateful for every obstacle but glad I no longer have to deal with certain obstacles
Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
Steve Harvey is definitely an inspiration to me, his story & obstacles I can absolutely relate to a few in so many ways. He’s not afraid to tell his story & where he came from
