Inspiring Conversations with Dr. Melissa Carver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Dr. Melissa Carver.

Hi Dr. Carver, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I was a sixteen-year-old mother who dropped out of school and received my GED. Soon after I began college at the University of Cincinnati pursuing a degree in nursing. It wasn’t long before I realized that nursing was not the career for me. Following that awareness, I quit college just as I had quit high school. I became a stripper in my early twenties and stayed in that club for fifteen years. Treating the job like a business I was able to create more revenue by also owning the ATM machine and boutique within the same club.

The strip club is often not what individuals often think of when they visualize the field. Many clients and workers are there to find healing, freedom, and open up their personal authenticity. There was a corner of the dressing room cut into the wall where I could be found resting and reading. It became what other girls would call my office. They would come to me to discuss their goals, challenges, and get my advice.

I realized that my entire life, no matter where I was, I enjoyed helping others level up to become their true potential. Shifting the mindset and thoughts that do not add value to their life and transform them into a true understanding of their personal power. This intuitive realization motivated me to return to school and gain my Ph.D. I wanted to gain more knowledge in what was already my life’s passion.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
My biggest struggle was coming to terms with the fact that not everyone wants to evolve. I spent a lot of time trying to convince people of their abilities who had no desire to move forward. I would become extremely frustrated, especially with those that I was close to. I’m grateful to be passed this lesson and peacefully within myself allow the space for others to expand on their own time… or not.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Dr. Melissa Carver?
I am known for deconditioning the mind of my clients and guiding them in the process of rerouting those binding thoughts to go beyond the known into the stage of new perspectives and potential. Individuals may begin this journey by reading my book, catching my monthly ABC segments, or attending the Annual Rejuvenation Retreat. For a more private, personalized plan clients enjoy the Carve Your Thoughts Program where we meet virtually, one on one, every one to two weeks. I was seeing clients around the nation via video calls long before COVID. I was certainly thankful that I was already acclimated to the tech world.

I am proud to be a contributing writer with Elephant Journal and chopra.com as well as a Chopra Instructor.

What sets me apart is my pure authenticity, transparency, and vulnerability. I am not here on this planet to sugarcoat, tell people what they want to hear, or hide pieces of myself that may be judged.

Who else deserves credit in your story?
My husband, who is a brilliant author and also Chopra Instructor, Leo Carver. He supports me in every single way. His calmness and nurturing nature is exactly what my fiery personality needs for balance. He not only cheers me on but is willing to jump in and do anything he can to help me reach my often-outlandish goals.

My children keep me grounded and remind me of what connection and love are all about the big picture. They have been attending events since the day I started this journey. Whether it was one hour or days, they wait patiently, and entertain themselves, even as small children… so well behaved so that momma could do her thing.

Davidji, best-selling Hay House author and meditation teacher is my mentor. Without the guidance of davidji many goals would’ve taken much longer to reach. His advice in business and spiritual growth gave me a giant leap in my career for sure! He is the only mentor that I have had my entire lifetime but boy, the universe sent me the best for all of my patience.
