Inspiring Conversations with Diane Linston of Styles of Imagination Fashions

Today we’d like to introduce you to Diane Linston. 

Hi Diane, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I graduated from High School, I thought I wanted to be an actress. My sister encouraged me to be a fashion designer. I went to a college in Cleveland Ohio called “Virginia Marti College. it took me almost ten years to graduate with two associates. degree. One year after I graduated, I open my first boutique. I laugh today, thinking about how small that boutique was. “Styles of Imagination was the name” I look back now and thing about all the obstacle I faced. I would share my dreams on how I wanted to be a fashion designer from everyone that would come in the store. Almost every customer would say, never give up. Those words stuck in my head. That is what I would name my clothing line… N.G.U. Designs by Diane Linston (Never Give Up). 

Often time I think about if I didn’t want to be a fashion designer what would I be in life? The only thing I could think of. is nothing but being a fashion designer. 

I tell people to never give up. Nothing has come easy with me. I have faced many obstacles in my life, Yet I never gave up. Since I open my first boutique in 10/1999, I open a clothing Manfacturing, being the only African America to have a women Manfacturing in Cleveland Ohio. 

I now have 2 high -end boutiques in the Cleveland area 

I have participated in more than 500 hundred fashion shows. all across the United States. 

February 2022, I had my own fashion show in Cleveland Ohio. with more than 500 people who attended the fashion show. There were more than 15 fashions designers from all over the world that showcased the collection. Mrs. Eve Marcelles was the MC for the show. It was an awesome show. May 21, 2022, I will be graduating with my Honorary Doctorate Degree in Humanitarianism. 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
“My dreams are more than just being a fashion designer,” states Diane, “It’s a dream come true for me. My career has not been easy; I have learned everything about fashion the hard way and I never gave up on my dreams, hence N.G.U. was born!” 

I made so many mistakes, I allow the wrong people in my circle, People, who mean me no good. I had to learn at the age I am. Learn to surround yourself around like-minded people, People who can elevate you to the next level.
