Hi Crystal , we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My name is Crystal Allen and I am the owner and CEO of Full Circle Hair Restoration Center. I have been a stylist for more than 33 years.
Working with clients, I have always focused on health hair. I found many of my existing clients as well as new clients coming to me with serious hair, scalp, and skin concerns. I had a lot of questions and no answers. They were loosing their thick, full heads of hair, and they didn’t know why. I didn’t have the answers they needed, so in September of 2012, I went back to school to learn the “Why”. I became certified in Trichology as well as an Expert Master Dermotrichologist. By continuing my education and learning more about the science of the hair, scalp, and skin I was then able to answer their questions. Full Circle is now equipped with the best non-invasive hair replacement, hair restoration, and scalp/skin care solutions that exist today.
Here at Full Circle Hair Restoration Center our goal is nothing less than to provide options and solutions to those who are dealing with either slight or serious hair loss, scalp, and skin conditions.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Becoming a Trichologist was not without its challenges. One of the significant obstacles I faced was the necessity of traveling to Atlanta every other month to complete my program. This frequent travel was both time-consuming and exhausting, but it was essential to ensure I received the best education possible at the National Trichology Training Institute. For me it was important to have a classroom setting where I could thrive compared to doing it alone online.
Another major challenge was the language barrier. To become an Expert Master Dermotrichologist, the courses were online because this program was based in Málaga Spain. Out of my two professors, one spoke English fluently and the other was not confident with her English at first so we had to have a translator until she grew in her confidence and started to teach without the translator. This added an extra layer of difficulty, as it required me to absorb complex material through a second language but it was worth it.
Finally, aligning my personal goals and aspirations with my business plan was another hurdle. It required deep reflection and careful planning to ensure that my professional path matched what I truly wanted to achieve. Despite these challenges, each step was vital in shaping my journey and preparing me for success in the field of trichology.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
For those just starting out in the Cosmetology industry, my first piece of advice is to embrace continuous learning. Cosmetology is an ever-evolving field, and staying ahead of trends and techniques is crucial. Build strong foundational skills, but don’t be afraid to explore specialized areas that could set you apart, such as color correction, advanced cutting techniques, or skincare.
One area that is particularly promising is Trichology—the study of hair and scalp disorders. I strongly encourage you to consider this path because hair loss is a universal issue that affects people of all ages, genders, and ethnicities. Whether it’s due to genetics, stress, hormonal changes, or medical conditions, nearly everyone experiences some form of hair loss at some point in their life.
By adding Trichology to your skill set, you not only expand your expertise but also offer a service that goes beyond aesthetics—you’re helping people address a deeply personal and often emotional issue. Trichology allows you to bridge the gap between Cosmetology and Healthcare, providing holistic solutions that can make a significant difference in your clients’ lives. This specialization not only enhances your career prospects but also positions you as an expert who can offer comprehensive care in a growing and increasingly important area of the beauty industry.
It takes time. Don’t quit and don’t get discouraged if it takes you longer than you thought it would to build your clientele, it will happen. Stay focused and professional at all times. Lastly, find a mentor that will be willing to invest in you and your business.
