Inspiring Conversations with Candice Zinner of Salty

Today we’d like to introduce you to Candice Zinner.

Hi Candice, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I discovered halotherapy while searching for natural alternatives to help with allergy relief. As I learned more, my husband and I began visiting salt rooms, caves, and booths anytime we were out of town. It quickly became our favorite way to relax and detox—it was our little escape from the chaos, and we always left feeling better.

At the time, salt therapy was still relatively new and not widely known here, so we dove into research and discovered that halotherapy has actually been used for hundreds of years in Europe to support respiratory and immune health. That history—and the peace we found in those salt rooms—inspired a dream: what if we could create a place where people could relax, unwind, and breathe easier, all while laying in a man-made salt cave?

We started researching everything we could about salt and halotherapy, wrote up a business plan, and searched all over Northeast Ohio to find the perfect location—and a landlord willing to welcome over 23,000 pounds of salt into their building! Along the way, we explored other natural ways to relax and support wellness, and decided to also offer an infrared sauna and ionic foot detox as part of the experience.

Getting Salty off the ground wasn’t always easy, but the journey has been worth every step. From hauling in literal tons of salt to building a peaceful sanctuary inspired by the graduation towers in Europe, every detail has been chosen with intention. Over the years, we’ve expanded our services, added a mobile salt tent to meet people where they are, and built a community of like-minded people who believe in the power of natural wellness.

Today, Salty is more than just a salt cave—it’s a space for healing, connection, and care. I’m so grateful for everyone who has supported this vision and helped it grow into what it is today. Whether it’s your first visit or your fiftieth, I hope you always leave feeling better than when you came in.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all—but every bump along the way has helped me grow in ways I never imagined. Running Salty has challenged me, stretched me, and taught me so much more than I ever thought possible—not just about business, but about people, perseverance, and passion.

I’ve been incredibly lucky to have a strong support system, especially a community of amazing women business owners who I can lean on, learn from, and laugh with when things get tough. Their encouragement and wisdom have been invaluable, and they remind me that I’m not in this alone.

Every challenge has shaped Salty into what it is today, and I wouldn’t change a thing. The road may be a little bumpy, but it’s led to something beautiful—and I’m just getting started.

We’ve been impressed with Salty, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Salty Salt Cave is a wellness spa designed to help people breathe better, relax deeper, and reconnect with themselves—naturally. Our core offering is halotherapy (salt therapy), which supports the respiratory and immune systems while promoting a sense of calm and clarity. We’re known for our peaceful, grounding atmosphere and our commitment to natural, holistic healing.

What truly sets Salty apart is the intentional design of our space. We use over 23,000 pounds of imported Polish salt, along with a graduation tower water feature inspired by traditional European salt mines—something rarely found in other salt caves in the U.S. It’s an experience that goes beyond wellness; it’s about stepping into a space where your body and mind can truly unwind.

In addition to halotherapy, we offer services such as infrared sauna sessions, ionic foot detoxes, and massage therapy using heated Himalayan salt stones. We’ve also introduced a mobile salt tent to bring the benefits of salt therapy directly to wellness events, health fairs, and even at-home spa days.

Salty is also home to an amazing team of independent wellness practitioners who rent space within our facility. Their specialties include massage, Reiki, facials, and counseling, making our space a one-stop destination for mind-body wellness.

We love creating unique experiences for the community through special events like yoga, sound bath Reiki, and guided meditations inside the salt cave, combining the healing power of salt with movement, sound, and stillness.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of how we’ve stayed rooted in natural wellness while building a strong sense of community. At Salty, you’re not just booking a service—you’re stepping into a space created with intention, care, and heart. Whether you’re here for a moment of quiet, a deep breath, or a full self-care reset, we’re here to support your journey—naturally.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is helping people feel better—truly better—in their health, mind, body, and spirit. I want every single person who walks through the doors at Salty to leave feeling more relaxed, more balanced, and more supported than when they came in.

Whether someone comes in with allergies, stress, chronic pain, or just needs a quiet moment to breathe, my goal is always the same: to create a space where healing can happen naturally and gently. Watching clients experience real shifts in their well-being—sometimes even after just one session—is the most rewarding part of what I do.

At the end of the day, it’s not just about offering services—it’s about making people feel cared for, understood, and empowered to take better care of themselves. That’s what drives me every day.
