Inspiring Conversations with Brooke Swaney of The Girl on Ivy Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brooke Swaney

Hi Brooke, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved all things fashion-clothes, shoes, jewelry…all of it! I dreamed of having my own clothing boutique for years, but finally had the “what are you waiting on” moment in 2022 and launched through pop-up shops/markets and my website on Small Business Saturday in November 2022.

The name The Girl on Ivy is a nod to the cul-de-sac where I was raised! Ivy Lane holds the sweetest memories for me and at my core is who I still am-someone who values faith, family, friends, community, and yes fashion! That “girl”, who was always a dreamer, deserves for this woman to chase those dreams!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
As with anything worth having, it has had it’s ups and downs, and I’m learning, growing, adjusting, and adapting as I go. I would say the biggest challenge has been making the decision to go “all in” and not look back a little over a year ago when I made the tough decision to walk away from teaching after many years to focus all of my time and energy into growing my dream.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Girl on Ivy Boutique. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Girl on Ivy is more than a boutique. While, yes, the business is to sell clothes, it’s always been about building relationships. That is why I’ve always loved setting up, under my tent, at area markets, and why I can’t wait to have a permanent location where women can come to share a laugh, connect with a familiar face, and have a personal experience of finding things that make them feel fabulous.

The Girl on Ivy offers classic and feminine pieces with a touch of trend for the modern woman. Curating quality and unique items at an affordable price is always at the forefront of every collection. A variety of styles are offered, but rich colors and unique patterns are our favorite!

At the core, I always want my business to reflect my personal values with honesty, integrity, and relationships at the root of every decision and interaction.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
Fashion has always been cyclical. Trends will continue to come and go, but style is timeless. I also think we are going to see an even greater revival of our local downtown businesses where people can connect with their neighbors more than ever before!
