Today we’d like to introduce you to Britney Macklin.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
A native to Detroit, Michigan, I relocated to Dayton, Ohio proceeding my graduation from Central State University. I furthered my career in education working for Dayton Public Schools. As a social butterfly, I enjoy helping others, being a positive influence in my community, and bringing people together to discuss goals and longevity. While doing this, I found a niche for making cocktails that created a vibe of happiness without the negative effect of danger and hangovers. By using natural juicing products and produce by my local farmers I created cocktails that were tasty with the least amount of added sugar. This became something I wanted to share with others. In doing so, Catch a Vibe was created. During the pandemic I began becoming more and more proficient at perfecting my craft. Cocktails with peers turned into serving guests at parties, which further led to sponsoring events that I supported and was an impactful event for my community. As year 3 approaches, I reflect on where I’ve been and how influential I would like to be for building memories and helping in the development of moments people will never forget.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has not always been a smooth road. Being the first mobile bartender in Dayton requires a lot of commitment and attention to keep my business flourishing. Your customers depend on you to provide a certain level of professionalism and availability. However, sometimes life comes at you full circle, and your adrenaline can be interrupted. In 2021 my business took a slow down due to personal issues that interrupted my production and my ability to commit to events. But as any boss would do…you have to be greater than your fears. One of my fears was stopping what I love…and I just couldn’t do that so here we are 2 years later, and I’m booked and busy simply because God favors me!
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next, you can tell us a bit more about your business.
Catch a Vibe Entertainment was the first luxury mobile bartending service in Ohio. Started in 2020, the goal was to bring good vibes to any function. Now we have set the tone to what a luxury experience looks like and feels like. We offer a variety of services such as: Bring the bar…we can bring a variety of different bar set-ups to your event. bartender for hire (if you already have a bar and need an exceptional bartender, we can provide), self-service beverage stations, kids mocktail bar setups, smokey table creations, and/or all-inclusive bar packages…in which you do nothing but hire us!
We are a one-of-a-kind brand. You give us your vision, and we execute it. We shop with our local farmers, we juice and create our own signature mixtures, and we make sure you are left with only good vibes.
My business has grown in a magnificent way from how I began in 2020. The joys and smiles I bring to faces are indeed the biggest accomplishment. The Oregon district shooting that occurred in 2019 hit my city very hard. We had never had something happen so close to home that took the lives of loved ones in an area in which usually would bring excitement and a never evening night of fun. The Fudge Foundation held a Hart Gala in honor of the 9 individuals who lost their lives during the Oregon district shooting. I was honored to serve and provide an amazing experience for the guests, families, local contributors, and state representations at the Springfield Museum of Art. This event brought hundreds of people together, and I was able to provide an experience of smiles and laughter. The Art reveal was served side by side with champagne and cocktails created by my business. From this event, I was able to serve my community, fellowship with local small businesses, and bring good vibes to a function that was built over a heartbreak.
I would like all the readers to know that making drinks is easy, but guaranteeing a vibe is only something that we can provide.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory was being around my family and loved ones. This aligns with my business because no matter what and who is around, the vibes that we bring will feel like a family event, our kids mocktail bars are in huge demand. It is not the luxury of sipping out of plastic cups but creating an experience in a glass.
