Inspiring Conversations with Augustine Turner of Mentors4minorities LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Augustine Turner.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Certainly. My journey began with overcoming the unique and often overlooked challenges of aging out of the foster care system. As a young single mother, I faced many obstacles that could have easily defined or limited my future. But instead of letting those circumstances hold me back, I chose to use them as fuel to push forward.

Through resilience, faith, and determination, I carved out a path for myself as a multifaceted entrepreneur. My lived experiences inspired me to create Mentors4Minorities, an organization rooted in the mission of empowering underrepresented youth. I wanted to be the support and guidance for others that I once needed myself.

Today, as the Founder and CEO of Mentors4Minorities, I am proud to lead initiatives that provide mentorship, educational resources, and life skills to help young people rise above their circumstances. My story is one of triumph over adversity, and I hope it continues to inspire others to break barriers and boldly pursue their dreams.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. Like many others who age out of the foster care system, I entered adulthood without a solid support system, which made navigating life’s responsibilities especially tough. Becoming a single mother added another layer of challenge—juggling parenthood, work, and my own personal growth often felt overwhelming.

There were moments of deep uncertainty, financial instability, and emotional strain. I had to fight through self-doubt, lack of resources, and limited access to mentorship or guidance. But each of those struggles became a stepping stone. They taught me resilience, built my character, and fueled my passion to create something meaningful—not just for myself, but for others walking a similar path.

Those hardships are what ultimately led me to establish Mentors4Minorities, where I now help others turn their pain into purpose, just as I did.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Mentors4Minorities is more than just an organization—it’s a movement dedicated to empowering underrepresented youth, particularly those who feel overlooked, misunderstood, or forgotten. Our mission is to provide the mentorship, guidance, and resources that many young people lack, especially those coming from foster care, low-income backgrounds, or unstable environments.

We specialize in mentorship programs, mindset coaching, personal and professional development, motivational speaking, and life skills training. We also offer employment opportunities, course development, therapy through poetry, and community outreach initiatives. Our goal is to support the whole person—mentally, emotionally, and professionally.

What sets us apart is our lived experience. We don’t operate from theory—we operate from truth. Many of us, including myself, have been through the very struggles our youth are facing. That authenticity builds trust and allows us to connect on a deeper level. We’re not just talking to them; we’re walking with them.

Brand-wise, I’m most proud of the impact we’ve made—seeing mentees break generational cycles, gain confidence, find jobs, start businesses, and become mentors themselves. It’s a ripple effect of empowerment, and that’s what Mentors4Minorities is all about.

If there’s one thing I want readers to know, it’s this: We’re not here to fix people—we’re here to remind them of their value, unlock their potential, and help them dream again. Whether you’re a young person looking for support or someone who wants to partner with us, there’s a place for you in this movement.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
Absolutely! I truly believe in feeding the mind and soul with resources that inspire and uplift. My number one go-to is the Bible—it’s my foundation, my guide, and my greatest source of strength both in life and leadership.

Another book that deeply impacted me is the “A Child Called ‘It’” series by Dave Pelzer. It’s a powerful story of a boy who survived severe abuse and went through the foster care system. As someone who’s been through that system myself, it resonated deeply with me and reminded me of the strength of the human spirit.

In terms of tools, Canva is my favorite app—it helps me bring creative ideas to life, especially for marketing and branding Mentors4Minorities. It’s simple, powerful, and essential for running a business on a budget.

And when it’s time to unwind or get inspired visually, I love watching HGTV. There’s something beautiful about seeing things get rebuilt and transformed. It’s a reminder that with vision and work, anything—homes, lives, or communities—can be restored and renewed.
