Today we’d like to introduce you to Ariana Perez.
Hi Ariana, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey started working in the medical field. I worked in long-term care facilities and took care of patients that had Alzheimer’s and dementia. I groomed them when they would go a long time without getting a haircut or shaved. It was my favorite part about taking care of my patients and making them feel good through the end of their lives and just being supportive. That’s when I decided to become a barber; I was licensed in 2013. I’m originally from the Youngstown, Ohio, and started my career. Years later, I moved to Cleveland and began working in different shops on the westside. I was one of the many people affected by the pandemic. I always wanted my own space. I wanted to create an artistic vibe and just be different, so I decided to open my own shop on the west side of Cleveland.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back, would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
The road was bumby but I made it through! The struggles we’re locating and knowing the areas that would be ideal for my business. I moved my business to a neighborhood that is still growing.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a Barber. I own Barbercult. My specialty is tapers, fades, working on beards and razoring eyebrows, as well as styling hair. We are known for being authentic, as well as creating a safe space for the lgbtq+ And trans youth community. We are committed to delivering an exclusive grooming experience. This brand is a wolf head with a third eye and crescent moon. Wolf medicine means strength and power, and protection. The wolf represents my struggles and guides me through my journey, it’s a spirit animal that I choose for my brand, and I hope it will help others find their path. We also offer waxing and other haircut services. For more information, you can find us on the Booksy app.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
As a child, playing soccer and driving my dad’s truck when he wasn’t home.
