Inspiring Conversations with Amanda Gordon of Sapphire Blu LLC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Amanda Gordon

Hi Amanda, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
During the height of COVID-19, I was working in Cleveland’s busiest ER and to have an outlet I started getting into crystals as an outlet from the day-to-day norm. After about a year my collection was getting bigger and bigger and I knew I had to do something with them. My significant other who co-owns a women’s boutique store mentioned to me about looking into making jewelry or looking into wire wrapping small cabochons and unique small pieces. So that is what I did bought some craft store wire and watched many videos on the process of wrapping. I started selling items at events and festivals as well as an area in my partner’s store and have had good and bad days but that is the joys of owning your business. I recently got started in designing and making heat-pressed shirts and bags.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Oh its never a smooth road. At the beginning of my business, everything came out of my pockets, from licensing, display equipment, materials, etc. Starting a business can be expensive at the beginning but you really have to keep the mindset that it takes time to get it up and going. It won’t happen overnight, as many give that mentality to social media and other outlets. I reached points with working all day and taking care of children that I would go months with not making anything because I was overwhelmed in life.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Sapphire Blu LLC?

Are there any books, apps, podcasts or blogs that help you do your best?
I am huge into YouTube as a source for finding new techniques and patterns to learn new ways to make amazing pieces without paying lots of money into classes and groups. Instagram also has people that post and do live feeds of making jewlery.
