Hi Alex & Cat, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
Alex & Cat Toth are a husband-and-wife team who own their business Embody Water together.
It was 2015 and Cat had been struggling with ulcerative colitis for several years. Managing her colitis had gotten quite expensive and it was not improving with the western/traditional/techno medical approach she was taking. She had a recent stint at the hospital which landed a bill over $11k.
A friend invited us to a health event and we decided to go. We were in the beginning of our natural health journey. Cat recently became a vegetarian and we had started taking supplements, which was all very new and confusing.
At this health event, we stumbled upon the Kangen Water® Machine – Cat filled her water bottle and quickly guzzled down the entire 32oz bottle. She loved the taste and drinkability. The man was rambling on about how magical this water was and how it was healthier than any other type of water. He provided us a way to try it for 2 weeks and see how we liked it.
Cat decided to exclusively drink Kangen Water® every day for 2 weeks to see if she noticed anything different in her body.
What happened next was more than shocking. “After drinking it for those 2 weeks, it was the first time I didn’t have blood in my stool in years. It was the first time in 7 years I had actual relief from my digestive issues.”

After serving in the Army in Iraq, Alex struggled with significant acid reflux and PTSD.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have absolutely experienced struggles along the way – some days are smooth, some are full of gigantic boulders, others are filled with sunshine, and some days it storms on us, however, we are 100% committed to sharing the good news of what Kangen Water® has to offer and be a representative of this technology in our area.
Some struggles we have experienced:
– Our roles, identifying what each of us are good at then figuring out how to execute our strengths.
– This technology is relatively new to Cincinnati and it’s not well known in the area. Trying to represent a 50-year technology in an area where people have never heard of it has been a slow burn. We’ve figured out that people learn through consistent education over time!
– Creating content on a continual basis that is easy for people to understand what makes Kangen Water® different and why owning their own machine is so beneficial.
– We had a daughter 19 months ago, trying to balance working from home, getting new sales, helping people start and grow their Kangen Water® business, taking care of our health, and being new parents has been… noteworthy!
– We didn’t realize starting and growing your own business is more about self-development – which we are grateful for but wish we knew this earlier.

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Important lesson we’ve learned due to the crisis – continue building digital, educational content as much as possible and NEVER GIVE UP! People need to know about this product more than ever.
Important lesson #2 – Make sure your service or product is positioned well. We’re absolutely in the right business, everybody needs health supporting water.
Important lesson #3 – Be open to opportunities. Understanding that everything could potentially change and to be okay with that. We had to recommit many times and adjust our mindset to keep things steady.
Interesting lesson we’ve learned – Supporting others has helped deepen our service to the world.
