Today we’d like to introduce you to Alcia Brown.
Hi Alcia, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I have always had a love and eye for decorating and design of homes and spaces in the house. I also love working with people and guiding people through processes. In addition to this, I have been in real estate as an agent and property manager for over 20 years. I enjoy people and love working with people. I have always had the desire to become a business owner but I knew it would have to be in something that I was passionate about.
So I decided to start a business in something that I enjoy and find fun and comfortable in. I do think that there is value in preparing a home first before putting it on the market. Not every buyer can picture themselves in a home unless they can visualize living in the home or can see how to use the space, so that is where iStage comes in. Home staging a house will help the house sell faster and many times 20% more than the asking price. The seller has to show the best of the house to that buyer because they only have one time to do that.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I would not say it has been a smooth road because I have had to do lots of research on this industry. I have joined RESA Real Estate Staging Association’s national and Ohio Local Chapter which has provided me with so much knowledge. I have learned so much more about the business this way.
Right now I am trying to learn as much as I can about the pricing of home staging and working on the marketing aspect. Other than that it has gone pretty well. I realize that I will have to put in a ton of hard work and stay consistent to grow the way I would like in this business. The best part about it is that I enjoy the process and learning as much as I can. I enjoy networking with others who have been in this business longer. I am soaking up as much knowledge and information that is possible

I have 25 years of experience in the real estate industry and have managed multiple properties and have sold and purchased real estate. In addition, I have staged multiple properties that were on market to sell and that sold for top dollar. With my love and desire for interacting and communicating with people, I decided to couple that with what I love to do. I have always had a passion and love for home décor and the design of spaces in a home.
To take a room from a blank canvas and turn it into a beautiful space that brings love and comfort makes me feel excited! I want to help others create and design their space, especially before putting their home on the market to sell. I am excited about bringing my experience and offering my expertise to you. By staging your home and giving it a fresh new feel, you will attract a buyer who will love your home as you have for all of this time.
When a buyer is touring your home with the intent to purchase, they want to be able to envision themselves living there and to determine how to use the space. You have one chance to show that buyer the best of you and your home. That’s where iStage comes in! I look forward to offering my expertise and services. The service that I provide is working with clients who plan to sell their home that is now vacant with furniture and decor finishes.
I also work with clients who have some furniture in their homes and that are living in the home but offer some accessories and advice on what to take out of the home. We assist with decluttering, organization, and light hauling. In addition, My services provide refinement and renovating space in the home, such as painting, flooring, bathroom, kitchen remodeling, etc.
Can you share something surprising about yourself?
They do not know that I have started my own business and that I have a love for redesign and home staging! And that I am finally doing what I am passionate about. Also, I added my son in a photo because he is a part of my TEAM that named my company iSTAGE and who came up with a logo and creative design. He is only 12 years old. My son is my creative inspiration behind the business name iStage and logo.
